I manage a reasonably large organization. Within it, I have many experts under me. People who I hired for their expertise. Expertise in some areas where they are more expert and up to date than I am.

If you think I run around telling them how to solve the problems THEY were hired to solve, you're a fricking retard.

They have words for that type of management approach and NONE of those words are good.
there is only 1 expert in a Les Miles organization.

I just winder why the plays act so shocked and heart broken over Miles Leaving, yet they are excited and renewed at the same time. Its weird

No one likes change, especially when it is abrupt and forced upon you. But it was clearly for the best and they now see it.

Without question the assistance coaches voices are heard much more than with the previous leadership, more so on offense.

it could also be because most of the staff may be unemployed in 2 months.

If Les was who some said he was, why wasn't that his policy?
Maybe it was in reverse, do it the Les way or hit the highway.

Remember Saban fired a DC after about a week on the job.
I think that is when he promoted Muschamp to the position.

It is so refreshing to hear O speak and to no longer have to listen to Les Miles play mind-frick games with his words.

Yep. What's the point of paying a ton for people if all to need is a bunch of yes men and glorified go-fers?

I mean, any reasonably qualified OC could simply regurgitate Miles instructions. frick. You could hire some NAIA dude to do that.

Les obviously micromanaged his staff. That much is certain.

But I don't know how many coaches don't micromanage to a point. O isn't going to micromanage (at least not yet) because I'm sure he feels he isn't in the position to do so.

Yup.

I think this is why most of our pumpers are practically in witness protection programs now.

The more quotes came out, there dumber their rhetoric sounded.

Possibly but even before his firing there had been rumors that he and Cameron essentially isolated themselves from the rest of the staff. Everything that has happened since points to this being true. There were no tears shed for Cameron getting handed his walking papers amongst the staff and football admin

Yeah I've said elsewhere that I don't believe Cam was well-liked among the staff.

I guess my point is that is that the termination of Miles and Cam likely lit a fire under the entire staff's arse. These changes we see could be what the remaining staff always wanted or it could be them making changes because they heard the message loud and clear that changes were needed across the board.

I'm not really arguing against the idea that Miles meddled, but rather offering a different explanation. I also know for a fact that Stud made all of the OL personnel decisions during his time here and Coach Frank Wilson did the same for the RBs during his tenure. As the seat got hotter for Miles perhaps he clamped down and started to micromanage things. In fact, if I was a betting man that would be my explanation for the last few years.

of course they all micro manage, but I think due to Les' goofy nature people under estimate how much of a dictator he was on that side of the ball

well they are not going to say they are a worse team without him, not while trying to inject energy and confidence back into the program

I'm sure they all do to an extent. I think the issue is that there may have been fundamental differences in what Les thought and what the staff thought.

I feel as though while a coach like Saban and Jimbo may have full control, they still understand having someone with very specific knowledge about a very specific position should be allowed to make important decisions and they roll with it.

Agree, but its becoming pretty obvious that Cam was the only person Les didnt micromanage and he was apparently a pain in the arse to work with.
