If he's just a scorer, which is what his stats suggest, maybe he's not worth the #6 and may not be the SF we're looking for.

HE is definitely not worth the 6th pick. He was the 14th pick in 2014, hasn't exactly lit it up, and is coming off season ending foot surgery. I would rather Luwawu or Brown to Warren.

The problem isn't win "now", it is making dumb signings then getting a coach who's system exacerbates those dumb signings.

Dell's biggest mistake was trading away Lopez and Vasquez for Tyreke, not because Tyreke is a bad player, but we had two guards in Holiday and Gordon. That left us a huge hole at C where we played Greg fricking Steisma an entire year, then we wound up trading a 1st round pick for Asik so we could place him in an up-tempo run and gun system a year later.

Yes, let's trade another top 10 lottery pick for an injured guy.

so he may prefer drafting Buddy to fill that just a scorer role at SG.

honestly, if Buddy is there at 6, which i have my doubts about, I really hope the Pels keep the pick and draft him. he's probably the biggest name outside of simmons in the draft, and he's a guy the casual fans can get behind and hopefully breathe some life back into the franchise.

Agreed. The assumption was that if he was going so hard after Evans, that we had a second deal in the works to unload Gordon. Otherwise, the move made absolutely no sense. That move alone set this franchise back several years.

Hield is a nice balance between win now and get younger talent.

We really need to use this pick to acquire low cost talent. Hield may not be a superstar, but the odds are he can contribute right away.

Jrue/Hield/Batum/AD/Asik looks pretty good on paper

Geez, you have one of the best basketball players in the world on your team and every year has to be a building year.

Batum already has max offers, of which we can't match. That ship never left the dock. You can forget about him.

And he seems genuinely interested in staying in Charlotte.

I think the Pels can realistically build slash have a starter with an older rookie like Hield or Dunn. Those guys have that step in and play feel like Lillard did a few years ago.

Trade 6 to DEN for 15 & 19.
Trade 15 & 39 to UTAH for 12.
12- Furkan Korkmaz
19- Timothe Luwawu.
40- Thon Maker or Wayne Selden.

I know it's very rare in the NBA but I would love to trade down. Say we trade our 6th pick to PHX for their 13th and 28th picks. We could very realistically grab Denzel Valentine with the 13th and Thon Maker/Timothe Luwawu with the 28th. I honestly think Thon is going to be an absolute monster. Pretty much a more athletic Dirk - not quite as good of a shot but just as good court vision and handles and better defense.
What you guys think?

IMO, you can't just say that you wouldn't trade the pick. If you got offered Steph, you would. So, there are players you would trade it for, and players you wouldn't.

The better question is: Where is your cut off? Who is the guy or type of guy that you go back and forth on, but eventually say, "Yeah, I'd give up the pick for him."

For me, I have 3 categories:

A) Player straight up for the pick
B) You take the pick and you also take Tyreke
C) You take the pick and you also take Asik

In category A, my bottom level guy is someone like Jabari Parker. Maybe they have enough forwards and want a PG. I would trade 6 for Jabari or Middleton.

In catgegory B, I would trade Tyreke and the pick for Demarre Carroll and pick 27. I add a little salary but get a MUCH better fit. Then, I still get a rook at 27

In category C, I would take Brook Lopez or Thad Young. Give me either of those guys and unload Asik, and I am fine.

And of course, anything better than that in any category,I am thrilled with. Those are my threshholds

We already have a 4 unless you want him at the 5. Which is fine but I'd rather have a 3 (Luwawu)

Murrary

I assume you mean DeJounte because Jamal will be gone. If he's there he'd be worth thinking about but I'd still rather have Korkmaz. Everyone wants a 1 but we have Jrue. After the top 5 I don't think any of these players are much better than the others. Their success will have a lot to do with play style & coaching. Both Luwawu & Korkmaz excel in uptempo styles & they play at positions of need. Both have played minutes at PG for their respected teams also.

Valentine & Luwawu play the same position. Both aren't know for their jump shots but improved this year. Both are "point forwards" Big difference is Luwawu can guard 3 positions right now & im not sure if Valentine can guard 1. Luwawu turns it over at a higher rate but I don't think he'd have to handle the ball as much for the Pels. Oh & Luwawu is a much better athlete.
