Culinarily speaking, Texas ain't the South

Well once again you're better if finding that info on food forum. I'm not a foodie by any means.

So?
Is New York "the South?"
Is San Fransico?

Having a great good scene from certain places doesn't make you actually a part of those places.

And It's okay to be your own place

i lived in houston for 20 years and think the food scene is great ... moved back to bama last year and still keep up with it a little ... but it's not the culinary center of the south by any definition ... it has some aspects, but there's just too much fusion ...

nor is any part of texas 'southern' to me ... no slam ... there are too many other influences to call the state 'southern' ...

Neither is South Louisiana.

A unique subregion unlike anywhere else in the world, true.

But even in South LA we can still cook better traditional southern cuisine than many places in the greater south

do you ever think about the food that most folk associate with NOLA and realize it's pretty much all from acadiana?

houston's diversity and sizes guarantee it's culinary superiority over NO ... that's not a knock against NO ... there's almost no cuisine in houston that is not done exceptionally well, and you can find a ton of food that is done moderately well at a moderate price from just about every cuisine ...
