Sigh...

Boo! Connecticut school district cancels Halloween

Children in one Connecticut town could find themselves all dressed up for Halloween with no place to go, after the district banned parades for fear they would exclude kids who didn't want to take part in the celebration.

In addition to the parades being canceled, students are forbidden from wearing costumes. The district also warned faculty that all activities be “fall-themed, not Halloween, and food is not an option.”

Johannsen learned of the move from a letter sent to parents that said the decision “arose out of numerous incidents of children being excluded from activities due to religion, cultural beliefs, etc.”

“Milford Public Schools do have many children from diverse beliefs, cultures and religions,” Richetelli said. “The goal is for all children to feel comfortable and definitely not alienated when they come to school.”

If they don't want to participate, they are excluding themselves. This doesn't make sense.

Good.
It doesn't need to be in our schools anyway!

And what happens when the other kids who wanted to celebrate Halloween get pissed off at the kids with beliefs against Halloween? Isn't that just giving them fuel to pick on those kids even more?

I thought Halloween, a devil's holiday, ban would be supported by the religious right, not the liberal left.

Wow this is incredibly stupid. Suppress our own culture to not offend another.

They got rid of Halloween stuff at my elementary school back in like 1990. This isn't new. I remember wearing a costume as a kindergartener, but not being able to after that.

Good. If I can preach Jesus's word in school, they shouldn't be allowed to recruit for satanic purposes either.

Excluding everyone is always a better option.

Speaking of stupid people....My wife did a pretty good job on the decorations this year and apparently the Jehovah's Witnesses felt the need to stop by and try to save our souls. Didn't even try to stop at any of the other houses on the street so we must be doing it right.

I'll give them a break this year as Halloween is on a Saturday. Why would they be at school on a Saturday?

However, this ban Halloween crap is bullshite! And moving it to a different day is crap also! You show up at my house on Oct 31, preferably dressed in a costume, and you're getting some candy. I don't really a give a frick if you shipped in from the surrounding trailer parks or not.

If you show up at my house on any other day, in costume, well, someone in the party better have some beer. You ain't getting candy!

So now the school district has excluded all kids from experiencing Halloween. Makes sense to the twisted mind of a Liberal, I guess.
