The article linked in the OP was straight up bare bones with just a few sentences. No details on the incident if the cop was off duty or on duty or even if the perps knew he was a cop.
He was pumping gas into his patrol car. The article has apparently been updated.

quote:

KPRC 2 was told the shooting happened at 8:30 p.m. at West and Telge roads near Cypress.

Sources told KPRC 2 that the officer was shot while pumping gas into his patrol car. Authorities said he was shot multiple times in the back and then shot multiple times once he was on the ground. Investigators said there is no known motive as this time and the shooter said nothing to the deputy before opening fire.

Lived in cypress my whole life .

It has turned a little ghetto , but nothing worse than anywhere else .

With social media the way it is , and accessibility to information so easy to attain , the crazies are gonna come out of all places to do this .

Monkey see monkey do.

they've got a suspect walking around white shirt red shorts. Senate and the Beltway. Way too close.

8 times out of 10, all could be avoided if people would follow the rules. That being said, there is a difference between how you treat people on a routine traffic stop and how you treat a habitual offender.

I hate cops, but this shite pisses me off even more. How absolutely senseless and cold can you be to another human? I cannot even fathom harming another person who has done absolutely nothing to me, much less murdering them. He leaves behind a wife and two kids. How the frick are they supposed to sleep at night knowing their father and husband was murdered because he had on a certain uniform? Hate cops all you want, and I'll usually join you, but this shite just makes my blood boil like no other.

I'm not trying to be a dick or smartass...I have no idea what you're trying to say. shite we see here could be avoided. The OT is flooded with retarded arse scenarios every hour involving nut cases and cops. Those instances aren't what I'm talking about.

Look dammit, cops lie. If it weren't for the odds simply being against me, I'd honest to god say 10/10 police reports are CRIMINALY exaggerated. People just don't understand until they've experienced it.

They hate us for who we are, for what we stand for. But ultimately, they will never be able to defeat us for we are resilient and committed to protecting others despite the risk.

Signed,

Every cop in America.

You're fricking delusional. I'm 38 years old and have only ever had one "bad" run in with a cop and that's because I was 17 and trying to act like a comedian in front of all my friends after a high school football game. Believe me, when he jumped out his car and got in my face yelling "you think you're funny?", my tone changed immediately. Had I have gotten my arse whipped by a cop that would have been my fault and I own that.

No one thinks they're responsible for their own actions anymore. It's always something/someone else's fault. Treat cops with the respect that their given authority deserves and you should never have a problem with a cop. So you catch one in a bad mood? All the more reason to be cordial and polite if approached by a cop.

Catch an attitude, mouth off, don't listen to instructions or any other number of examples of disobedience with a cop and, in my book, you deserve all you receive at the hands of said cop.

P.S. My dad was a NOPD cop and what you say disrespects his memory and all the men and women who risk(ed) their lives on a daily basis in this country, still here or not.

frick you!

It's pathetic that even in this thread, we still have idiots who feel the need to play victim and call out cops with generalities that could be applied to any profession (abuse of power, etc.)

I can't think of many legit professions where people don't abuse power. The difference is that murdering cops has become some sort of trend for some vague reason. People don't do this to other professions.

If you can't recognize that your comments truly had no place in this thread, you can't be helped. Your topic had nothing to do with the subject (lying cops/Officer killed in the line of duty). It's as though you were almost saying the cop deserved it in some way (I know you'll scream from the rooftops that you did not say that). The older I am getting, I realize that I do not have to impose my way of thinking on anyone else..it would not change anything and causes undue frustration that I do not need. Feel whatever way you want, just don't expect people to sit by while you say something that upsets them.

I'm out.

Good fricking lord.

I didn't even make the first post that took the thread in this direction.

Again, I didn't make the first post about bad cops. I said what happened is just horrible.

Even if this were all true, quit doubling down. The first quote was from your first post btw. And like I said, there are numerous people in the thread that feel the same way that you do, but they knew it was better to leave those comments out of this thread. Even SirWinston admitted this wasn't the best place for that.

I have no issue with criticizing LEOs, but the lack of respect and hostility towards them is ridiculous. They are being forced into a corner and I don't think the citizenry will enjoy their push back

This is completely retarded. The cops can't afford a pushback on the citizenry. They've already given themselves a shitty name by their actions dealing with citizens. The way this shooting went down makes me think the shooter knew the victim.

LoL at "dark completed". Look at the photo of the suspect. That guy is Black / AA as they come. You can't even say the race of the suspect in this case? Wow.

You said negative comments about law enforcement officers in a thread that discusses a police officer being executed tonight. Own it. Don't back down now because you're being called out to defend your actions.

Going forward, shut the frick up. A man just lost his life and his family and children are devastated. Have some respect and dignity for them and put aside your own personal agenda.

I saw on Twitter that a suspect has been arrested. Apparently his Mom turned him in.
