There's so much wrong with this statement, it's both comical and sad

I work with police every single day, the vast majority of them are great people but just like any profession, some of them are asshats. But even amongst the asshats I know very few that lie.

And as to your bullshite statistic, I read police reports everyday and very very very few contain outright lies. I can't tell you the number of times that I've read a report and the defense attorney says it's all a lie because his client tells him some sob story, then when we look at a video of the incident it turns out to have happened EXACTLY like the cop wrote it up.

Wanna know the first thing I learned when I started working in criminal law (and I started as a defense attorney even though I'm now a prosecutor)? It's that 98% of the guys are just plain guilty.

So no, cops don't lie all the time. Have I seen cops lie? yes. But not nearly as much as the frickers they're arresting. The problem is that this country hates cops rights now and every time there is a tiny mistake it gets blasted all over the news. So idiots think "oh, 6 cops lied around the country this week, then all cops must be liars..." or "oh this cop killed an unarmed black guy, he must be a racist and all cops are racist." But those things are not the rule, instead they are the exceptions to the rule. They are rare cases. Like I said, I know a lot of cops because of what I do, and I respect the vast majority of them because they do put themselves in dangerous situations everyday. You may not like them, you may not respect them, but you don't fricking disparage them in a thread about a cop who was shot in the back by a coward.

I don't know this officer that was killed. But neither do you. So this isn't the thread to come in and talk about how there's some sort of justification for his death based on your ludicrous theory that all cops lie.

Asshat.

That being said, there is a difference between how you treat people on a routine traffic stop and how you treat a habitual offender.

Unfortunately, it's becoming harder and harder for LEOs to tell the difference.

Do you think before you write this? You are saying that 10/10 police reports are exaggerated? I guess since you had a bad experience at one restaurant means that 10/10 restaurants have bad service. I know some cops who are good people and for you to bunch them in with some overzealous Barney Fife is a slap to their face. It is also a slap in the face to the three families who have lost their husbands/fathers over the last month or so.

Obama administration & the media created this animosity. I wonder if they will shift their positions now.

Cypress is getting bad

Really? I live in NOLA but my in-laws live in Spring and several of my fraternity brothers' families live in Cypress. I've been there before and they had gorgeous neighborhoods, lots of new construction, high end outlet mall nearby. I'd have a hard time believing that area was getting ghetto, but I guess I haven't seen all of it

Liberalism has successfully vilified our critical Institutions by pandering to the criminal class at the expense of Law Enforcement and The Rule of Law. A cop is the symbolic personification of everything these people despise. Authority, Civil society, respect for the rights of others, etc. And now we are getting the results. It has never been more "heroic" to kill a cop amongst the shite birds and there has never been as much moral relativism floating through the Zeitgeist fanning racial and anti-cop angst.

It's really fricking tragic. And not just for this guy's family, but for American society.

Well said and I'm curious about two things.

1. If the 10 down voters would show their face and explain why they down voted this

2. I'm curious of the OTs thoughts and opinions on when and how all this violence will come to a head and what you guys think will happen when enough is enough?

IF you look at the stats the number of police officer killed by gunfire in the line of duty has decreased over the past 10 years and not increased.

Overall police are safer on their jobs than they were 10 years ago.

I agree 110% with your statement

my fat finger mistakenly hit the down vote , as I'm owning it

your statement is so true , just last weekend the LSP trooper in Lake Charles was responding to a vehicle stranded in a ditch. Officer approached the vehicle and was shot in the face and died

I applaud those who wear the uniform and risk their lives everyday. There are a few bad apples in every bunch, but judging every LEO without knowing them is asinine

RIP Deputy Sheriff Goforth

This is completely retarded. The cops can't afford a pushback on the citizenry. They've already given themselves a shitty name by their actions dealing with citizens. The way this shooting went down makes me think the shooter knew the victim.

What you're not comprehending Ben, is that the cops have the upper hand. They represent an institution that is still highly regarded in this country. Individual officers may be despised but LE is not. This officer may or may not have been targeted for personal reasons. But some thug just executed a LEO in full uniform. You don't think that's a direct affront to EVERY LEO? Your naïve as a child. And if you don't believe that this type of event, like the murder of our LSP trooper last week, will make the cops more aggressive and defensive you're fooling yourself. Moreover, this will only garner support for LE when they do toughen their stance.
And even if he wasn't a uniform patrolmen, he's still on the job. I think that will make matters for worse than if he'd have been killed while off duty. JMO.

Pandering to criminality is a recipe for disaster and just creates more criminality. In the last twenty years, but specifically in the last five, we have witnessed the creation of a Liberal Race Narrative replete with Marxist assumptions that Black Americans are victims on the basis of their race and white people are victimizers on the basis of theirs. It also, in classic Marxist fashion assigns guilt to the one who holds the power (the cop) and assigns a sort of twisted acceptance and encouragement to the less-poewerful (the criminal). This Narrative intentionally ignores catastrophic black on black crime and focuses it's energy almost entirely on law enforcement. It's gotten so loony that people now make the claim that ALL cops are crooked and violent just by the basis of being cops. This effort to make both whites and cops disreputable just by the basis of their being, is classic Leftist Agitprop. To them, This cop was GUILTY and this criminal was AGGRIEVED, and that is the poetry to the Leftist Activist Street Protester, in all this.

It is essentially considered a hate crime on The hard Liberal Left now for Democratic Presidential candidates to utter the self-evident phrase "all lives matter", so overcome with Leftist Racial Ideology have they become. THINK ABOUT THE INSANITY OF THAT. It is a Race Narrative frenzy, it dominates our Social Media Culture and now our Mainstream Media Culture. All around us we have Black and white "Racialists" pointing their finger at regular law-abiding Americans and demanding they obey this new Liberal Orthodoxy and repudiate themselves in some way. They make excuses for unspeakable Social Pathology and Criminality and threaten anybody who takes issue with them. It's all very Soviet.

Liberalism assigns this blame to whites and cops in an effort to replace American Traditions, symbols , principles and ideals with a race and class conscious system that treats people according to their external characteristics rather than by the content of their character. Liberalism has attempted to put the stake in the heart of Martin Luther King's assumptions and asked us to accept this new disastrous approach. People like myself who assumed the American Creed was to be found in MLK's "judge every man by the content of his character" have been shouted down and overwhelmed by those who believe that virtue is to be assigned according to one's skin color. And now they have begun to kill white cops with regularity as an expression of this new Racist American philosophy. God help us.

People are so delusional about police. There is definitely more good police than bad. If any other group or organization was grouped together as much as police are the uproar would be huge. Literally, poloce are the only group allowed to be lumped together without an uproar.
