if you check the Warner brothers youtube page, you'll discover that the suicide squad trailer now has a few hundred thousand more views than batman vs superman (both have over 34 million).

i think this is pretty incredible. batman and superman are two of the most well known fictional characters of all time, and then we have a movie with a title and characters that most people aren't familiar with, which has now surpassed BvS in total views.

but here's what makes this even more stunning: the suicide squad trailer was released a full two days after the BvS trailer, yet here we are, about 1 week later, and suicide squad has more views.

is the joker a bigger character than batman or superman? it looks like the answer to that is starting to become a bit clearer.

Suicide Squad's trailer is the best for a superhero movie since Watchmen. It's awesome.

I'm more interested in SS than I am BvS. It looks different, and Ayer has came out saying his film will have minimal CGI and is being filmed with real sets and props. I think it'll be a nice contrast to Snyder's CGI fest. I'm growing tired of all the huge battles, explosions, and excessive CGI.

People want to see the joker.

You have teen emo chicks tattooing the joker on themselves these days.

So you don't need to watch trailer to figure out who these guys are.

This is an interesting argument. I would say that the Joker is definitely a bigger cinematic draw than Superman right now. Batman? Probabably, as well. People love them some Joker.

I read a synopsis on why the joker looks the way he does in this movie and it makes sense and I don't have a problem with it.

He's different from any other Joker we've seen.
It would be boring if he ended up looking too similar to Heath Ledger's or Jack Nicholson's Jokers, so it's nice that they're doing something different. Cesar Romero's Joker is just a clown, Jack Nicholson's Joker is a mobster, Heath Ledger's Joker is an anarchist, and Jared Leto's Joker, judging by the trailer, is a sadist. I like how Jared Leto might perform a different interpretation on the Clown Prince of Crime. Despite the "grill" and tattoos, Jared Leto's Joker looks pretty creepy. He has the laugh, the crazy eyes, and the smile.

He's closer to the Joker from the comics.
Now, with everybody bitching and moaning about the tattoos, let me remind you all that Joker did have a tattoo in the comics. It was a large dragon tattoo that spreads from his back to his neck, arms, and sides. As for the metallic teeth, it's obvious that the Joker had his teeth knocked out after a brutal fight with Batman in the comics. Joker's appearance is closer to the Joker from the comics because his skin is bleached instead of being covered in make-up like Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, and he carries no scars near his mouth. Also, there's one thing I like to point out in the trailer. I know it's too small to see, but if you look at 2:12, you can catch a glimpse of Joker with no tattoos on his face. Maybe at Arkham, Joker got tortured by the orderly by injecting him with the acid that bleached his skin. It's only a guess. According to the Batman v Superman trailer, this is the Joker that killed the second Robin, Jason Todd. Which brings to my next point...

He'll be much more brutal.
Like I said, judging by the trailer, Jared Leto's Joker is a sadist. In the trailer, Harley is being strapped on to a table and the Joker says "Oh I'm not gonna kill ya...I'm just gonna hurt ya...really, really bad." Joker probably tortured Harley so bad, it was to the point she went insane. And he killed Jason Todd. When you think about it, it's quite disturbing.

I just looked and BvS has one with 44 million views. You're talking about the Comic-Con trailers.

yeah, people definitely want to see Leto's version of the joker. However, I think it also shows how popular Harley Quinn has become. That trailer was all Harley. Everyone I talk to seems excited to see her for the first time on the big screen.

The Joker character has been rather blessed by who has performed him. That's pretty amazing when you think about it. We always say, "I'd love to see this character, but they will probably frick it up." The Joker is a villain that looks like a clown for christ sake

Many people liked Jack Nicholson's Joker. Mark Hamill is beloved for his Joker in the animated series. Heath Ledger is basically a legend for his role as Joker, regardless of his death. I think people are excited to see what Leto can do because he has proven himself, and the character has almost always been successfully portrayed.

Perhaps that will change one day when someone goes too far trying to make their own take, but for now, the past really gets people who are noncomic folks interested.

I've never read comics or am really familiar with anyone other than batman and superman. Are the suicide squad pardoned villains? Are they against the joker in this? Also is Deadpool the same universe? Thanks

Superman doesn't interest me at all. I'd rather watch anything that the Joker is in than anything Superman is in.

Villains who are getting a reduced sentence in exchange for performing dangerous missions. (Think Dirty Dozen)

We don't know at this point.

Also is Deadpool the same universe?
No. He's Marvel Comics/Fox Studios, Suicide Squad is DC Comics/Warner Bros.
