Its going to make money, but 1) It's not the most anticipated character to be put on screen. Maybe it is for you. And 2) It's rated R. The ticket sales will be limited for that reason.

Joker in the comics has been wrote a dozen of different ways because different writers have had different takes similar to how different actors have different takes on a role. So there is no real comic book version of the Joker. There is only different takes on it. My personal favorite is Alan Moore's take on the Joker. If anyone knows crazy, it is Alan Moore.

That said, i have no problem is Leto wants to do his own take. But i hate the grill. When people rewatch it years later that will still look stupid regardless of how well he is in the role.

I only hope Suicide Squad has a different feel to it than every other DC movie. People bang on Marvel for having assembly line movies (which is laughably wrong) but every DC movie since Batman Begins has felt the same to me. Dark, brooding, lots of death. It just changes out the cast. Suicide Squad has the chance to be really fun and different. Or it will try to be like Marvel, cram references to other DC movies into it in awkward places, be dark and brooding, and kill any fun in the movie outside poorly thought up one-liners. I hope its a huge success. If DC cant start to challenge Marvel, it will get lazy and stop pushing the boarders.

You do realize i was talking about trailer views and not ticket sales, ya know, the topic of this thread. And i can truthfully admit i was biased with the most anticipated character to be put on screen comment but it cannot be denied that Deadpool is the highlight of 2016 comic book movies and has been considered a long awaited character by comic book fans. He has a huge following

Don't get your hopes up on Deadpool being a heavy hitter at the box office. Almost no one outside of comics knows who he is.

It could do very well, but it won't do Iron Man or Batman numbers.

The first time I was introduced to the character was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I had no idea he was anything other than a creation of the film until about a year later. I like to think of myself as the average comic book movie fan. I don't read the comics, I know very little about the characters, and generally just go to these films to be entertained.

The average movie goer like myself is probably not nerdgasming like you are because we have no idea who this character is. I didn't even bother to watch the bootlegged trailer.

R-rated films don't do the business of PG-13 films. The highest grossing R-rated film of all-time, The Passion of the Christ, did $375 million at the box office in 2004. Up until last year's American Sniper, no other R-rated film had eclipsed the $300 million mark in the United States.

I'm making posts about how youtube hits don't mean nearly as much as how many tickets are bought at the theater. I think you're just a little too defensive about Deadpool. Calm down bro.

is the joker a bigger character than batman or superman? it looks like the answer to that is starting to become a bit clearer.
I don't really think it's about one character. 90% of the girls I know, especially the freaky ones, are obsessed with Harley Quinn. 2 have even changed their Facebook names to ones that are plays on her name.

Yeah, I like Deadpool but that was a ridiculous statement. I don't know a single person that knows who he is.

Anyways, I saw this on Reddit. The south and midwest seem to be liking that suicide squad trailer.

I think the premise for this thread is flawed. The SS Comic-Con trailer is the premier of any footage for the film, whereas the BvS Comic-Con trailer is following up a teaser from months ago. Both films are highly anticipated, but they are not on the same timeline in terms of trailers.

If the first BvS trailer was released at the same time as SS, I'm sure it would have more views.
