The Wire is the greatest television show ever conceived and implemented on screen. Everyone should watch it for the lessons that can be learned.

S2 starts off slow but is better than s1. S3 is about as good as tv gets.

The Wire is somewhat overrated on this site and the second season kinda blows, but it gets good and has some awesome episodes and seasons.

I had never seen it before, but I watched the entire series over about 10 days in the last week or two. Overall I give it an A grade. I thought the first season was the best, followed very closely by season three. Season two and four were very good too, but not quite the level as the other two. Season five was a little off for me. Hopefully, I don't get crucified for not thinking season five was as good as the others. I know how this board loves the series.
It's definitely worth watching. If I was ranking it, it would be third as overall series behind Breaking Bad and The Sopranos. Depending on how Game of Thrones concludes, it could drop to fourth. All four are outstanding though, so that isn't meant as a slight.

Fwiw, Season 5 was the originator of the series going off on his ex-coworkers and bosses.

you learn everything you need to know about where the dope dealers get the product from.
it really focuses on the port of Baltimore and shows how a once thriving environment for work is now going down the drain.
you sort keep up with the characters from Season 1, the street people I mean. But their deal is more of a subplot.

season 5 is probably my least favorite. the newspaper story part was not that entertaining.

First off, watch The Wire.
Secondly, season 2 can be somewhat slow the first time you watch it, but after you watch the series once, the second time thru, you see the significance and importance of season 2 more. At least I did. There are also some good supporting performances in Season 2.
The last season is the only one that's not 5/5* IMO.

Season ranking: 4, 3, 1, 2, 5. All seasons are excellent TV. And season 2 has the second best ending montage (after season 3).

Great series that you have to watch I'm completion. Game of Thrones is also great but they are two different genres. The Wire does a great job of depicting the real struggle in urban in environment.
