That shite was tough. I almost stopped watching completely after that happened.

I "get" why they did it but yea, it was probably the harshest death in TV I can remember.

And I don't get the season 2 hate. Def. the "worst" of the 5 but still a damn fine season of a show.

I'm on season three right now on the last episode. Every show is great.

I just opened up a whole shite can didn't I?

Die!

No, but as much as it sucked, it was the pivotal point in season 5's key theme. Is that as fricked up as the inner city is, the cycle of shite will continue if our America doesn't make changes towards the drug war, and the negative impacts it has on our overall society.

I guess it depends on how you define same level. I haven't seen all of Breaking Bad, so i can't rank it overall. What I've seen is awesome. The Wire I currently rank as the best show i've ever seen and my impression after 2 seasons of BB is that it will not over take the Wire on my list, or for that matter The Americans. But still one of the best shows i've ever seen. This is the golden age of TV drama for sure

If you are only through 2 seasons of Breaking Bad, all I can say is hang on. The rest of the series is going to blow you away.

But by a kid?!?! shite at least let it be in a blaze of glory while taking out either Chris, Snoop, or Marlo. Or if it's gonna be a kid, it would have been fitting if it had been Mike since Mike takes over Omar's role robbing stash houses.

David Simon needed to make sure Omar didn't turn into some kind of mythical figure. I didn't like it at the time, but I'm okay with it now.

It sucked. VERY weak final season - jumped the shark w/ridiculous story line. I'll just leave it at that.

Still a great series.

Pretty sure he failed if that was the intention. Read any of these Wire threads before? Everyone loves them some Omar.

The craziest thing about the Omar character is that most of his exploits, including the leap, really happened. And Donnie Williams, the real life Omar, died from heart failure in his 60s.

I didn't really appreciate season 2 until after I finished the series and realized how important it was to the show.

They're different. Breaking Bad is a slipstream. I think it's better from a pure entertainment perspective than The Wire. But I don't think that Breaking Bad will linger in my brain the way that The Wire has.
This, except I was probably more entertained by The Wire.

I really enjoyed BB. But thinking about The Wire makes BB almost seem like a cartoon to me. Idk if that makes sense.

Some of y'all think Ziggy was bad(he was)??? It got to the point where I wanted to stab myself in the face every time I saw Skyler.

I hate season two because it got away from the drama and hustlers of the streets. It would have been fine if it was an anthology or a different show but for the Wire, it doesn't really work with the other seasons and just seems out of left field.

I mean McNulty working the docks with Holly Flax was just uninteresting to me.

But I loved all the other seasons with 4 and 5 as my favourites.

I think I asked you about your Skylar hate in my BB thread, but it could have been someone else I asked. Either way, I would love to hear you elaborate on why you hate her. I think I merely dislike her, and think her klepto sister with her unmoist ovaries was worse.

I think I feel towards Pinkman what you feel towards Skylar. He was the only character I just wanted to punch hard in the face multiple multiple times. Not just multiple punches, but multiple instances of multiplicitous* forceful punching to the face. Multiple multiple punches. Can't stress that enough.

*not a word, apparently. Weird.

Damn it. I trusted my middle aged memory and didn't bother with the Google box. But its still amazing that he died of natural causes after a relatively full life span.

I honestly believe anyone who doesn't like the Wire had some sort of mental deficiency. Be it a low iq, overly racist, or being blinded by neocon dogma, that they see the scenarios as pure imagination.

Call me a dick, but if a friend told me they hated the Wire, I would start to wonder what is wrong with them.

I feel the exact same way. I really like BB, but really didn't like Pinkman. Everything just got together in an absurd way. With the DEA brother in law and other storylines.

The Wire was the most brutally honest show ever made.

One of the fondest memories I have of my mom, was translating what the black characters were saying. She absolutely loved it, but couldn't watch it without a translator. And I was fine with watching it several multiple times.

Donnie appeared in the leap scene - he is Omar's associate who gets killed during the incident.

They also lowered the leap to make it more "believeable" - the actual leap was from 7 stories up, while the show depicted it from the 4th floor - "Spiderman shite" indeed, Marlo.
