Thomas had a nasty crash, surprised he was able to finish that. Wouldn't be surprised if he's concussed
Head on into a telephone pole at 50+ MPH and he is able to lose only 40 seconds, what a ride.

TJ has to abandon. Got sick on the rest day maybe? Sucks

That sucks. He usually does well in the Alps too. He would have had a really strong chance to podium.

Just checking in for the day, what happened to Van Garderen. Did they say on the broadcast?

Needs to attack the Skybots on the descent

Under 100% false pretenses.
No he didnt.
the charity is set up to raise money for cancer research. they do that, there is no false pretenses and they have passed IRS muster year in/year out.
Say what you want about him as a doper, but everyone in the sport is a doper.
His charity, however, is as legit as they come.

That was a nice appetizer for the Alps.
Movistar needs to come up with a plan

Froome is a beast and he has like 3 or 4 other guys who could be GC contenders in Konig, Porte, Thomas, and Roche on his squad. Pretty sick. Movistar has all climbers so they will continue to try to put some pressure on.

I've seen this mentioned on this thread by several and wanted to correct the false information about Livestrongs mission statement. They almost completely stopped funding research after 2005 (I think that's the time frame) and shifted it's focus on support for survivors and their families. This may also include people fighting cancer? It's still a good and noble endeavor on the part of the foundation even if the founder was a scum bag.
Sorry to see TJVG had trouble today. He must be crushed. Froom ftw

Is Froome doping? Of course he is. But so is everyone else. I just don't believe there are any clean riders. I fail to be outraged.
I just hate when one's dude program is so much better than the rest.
And I just can't stand Froome. Alien looking fricker.
Alberto needs to step up his blood game.

That stinks for Tejay he looked horribly uncomfortable.

All they said was that he had a headache. He was visibly struggling, almost soft pedaling when he abandoned 70k from the finish. Tough to watch.

It was hard to watch indeed. I felt bad for the guy. He really was off for whatever reason.

and this was supposed to be where TVG was supposed to start really making his move... for the last week-plus all we've heard is "the Alps are more suited for his style"... and 1st day in the Alps he gets so sick he can't finish
so tough to see... really the USA's only hope for a podium in Paris Sunday since Talansky is so far behind (though Andrew did make up like 5 minutes today... but he's still so far back)

What you've mentioned about the alps and TJ are true. He should perform better on longer climbs with less gradient. Good ride from AT today but TJ is the best American GT threat at this time. Sad day for TJ...wonder what happened to him. Strange to say the least.

watching the primetime replay, sucks for TJ, I can't imagine what he is going through, get to the alps your strongest part of the tour. But he has to abandon.

I just looked again. Stages 2 through 8 are the only stages that carry the time bonuses for the top 3 finishers.
It's actually every stage (minus the time trials, of course)
Posted on 7/23/15 at 10:36 am to castorinho
Im completely disappointed in Contador. He has just mailed it in and making no effort it seems. It looks like Bardat won today's stage.
I know it is not good to wish someone to crash out, but Sky needs to hit a bus or have some French police raid their hotel at 3 am.
