Cool Stuff To Do in Dallas that a New Orleanian Would Find Fun?

Some friends are coming to visit me in Dallas in a few weeks. I asked what they wanted to do and they told me that they'd let me "show off" my new city. I moved here for work about 3 yrs ago from New Orleans.

The problem is I think Dallas is kinda lame as a tourist destination. I'll probably take them by the grassy knoll, but that's all I got. They'll be here just for the weekend.

I was thinking Top Golf, but on the weekends it can be a 2-3 hr wait. Uptown is mostly out b/c my friends aren't 20 something douches.

Any ideas?

There are 10-15 microbreweries in DFW. Go to Deep Ellum and eat BBQ at Pecan Lodge. I also recommend Lakewood. The Arboretum is nice if they are into gardens.

The book depository is legit, close to pecan lodge too. The Perot is great for something to do during the day, ranger game, usually some decent music around (google is your friend).

To anyone from a place that doesn't have a top golf, it is easily worth the wait. I think I waited 3 hours in Houston and then played for another 2.5 hours. So much fun

If they aren't 20 something douches, get up early and go. No wait.
Or go and wait in the bar. It's nice and has sports on. Like Snake23 said, it's worth it.

FC Dallas
Hard 8 BBQ
I like Fort Worth

Dallas reminds me of Atlanta. Great place to live but I wouldn't want to visit there.

Go to Deep Ellum Brewing Company and take the tour. Drink the best IPA around. My body is sustained by them now.

When my friends visited we went to the GWB Museum at SMU. It was fantastic and definitely worth checking out.

I'd say definitely hit up Top Golf. Do that in the morning, grab brunch and drink some screwdrivers, then head to one of the breweries littered around Dallas. Deep Ellum, Peticolas, and Community are all really good. You could also check out Truck Yard over on Greenville and drink in the heat. Will definitely be some talent out there, Katy Trail Ice House, and the Rustic.

Honestly, being from Atlanta, it's like someone said earlier: great city in which to live, not much to visit.
