Best New Orleans Restaurant to take out a group who has never been?

Looking for a great dinner to showcase my hometown to a few buddies. We'll be in New Orleans for work and have one free night to have a great dinner.
I've been living away for several years now and last time I was in town during football season, was sad to see that my once-favorite spot had fallen off. (I won't name names since I've loved this place for years and I'm hoping they just had a bad night).
Any recommendations for a group of guys? Price isn't really an object. Would rather a more casual atmosphere but won't sacrifice great food for a more laid back vibe.

Come on now, let us know the place so we can at least know what you did like when it was better?
This board isn't so powerful that one bad thread will ruin a N.O. restaurant.

For a "guys" Dickie Brennon's steak house has never let me down. It's casual, you can get loaded, and have a good steak.

A bit more info would be helpful. What type of food do you want to showcase? Traditional old New Orleans? More eclectic? Seafood? One of the grand dame restaurants? What night of the week(that can make a difference)? Does location matter? How many in your group? Does noise level matter?
What is the restaurant of which you speak? Might help us with some suggestions.

The restaurant of which I speak is Arnaud's--5 years ago it used to be the place I always took out-of-towners. I loved the place Service was always top-notch and so was the food. It was a great showcase for quintessential New Orleans. Last time I went, the food seemed average and the service was below average. Something about the place just felt.... off. Couldn't put my finger on it. I'm always talking up my hometown so I wanna do it justice as the host and Arnaud's let me down last time.
I was thinking GW Fins, but one in the group is allergic to shellfish so he'll miss out on a lot of what makes that place awesome. Was also considering Dickie Brennan's. Thought about August but that place is a bit more of a date restaurant than a place for a group of guys to go out.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Go to Clancy's uptown. Sit downstairs.

Well, that's an important point.
I agree that Clancy's is an option. Not my favorite, but certainly a favorite of many and a cool neighborhood joint.
Honestly, Tory McPhail has been doing some great things at Commander's. Jackets are not required there, so slacks and a nice shirt (no polos) would be fine.
Gautreau's is another option. Same dress. Sue Zemanick is a great chef.
Commander's or Gautreau's would be my first choices. There are options for the person with the allergy they'll be delicious. Two outstanding Beard award chefs.

This is perfect advice.

Two solid recommendations (occasionally you do something right).
And, yes, Clancy's would be a good choice, but I haven't been in years.

Thanks so much for the advice. Glad to see 2 of my favorites are still on top and good to hear Commander's is no longer a stickler on jackets since that would've been a deal breaker. Gonna see if I could get in there. Haven't been in about 7 years.
I've never tried Clancy's, but seeing a lot of mentions for it lately on this board. Looks like a cool spot that I'll have to look into some time.

If you haven't been to Commander's in 7 years, you're in for a treat. I hope you can get in.

Commanders is a perfectly great restaurant, but for a group of guys thats not where to send them.

Brigtsen's would be my recommendation.

Commander's is perfectly fine for a group of guys......as long as all are mature & know which forks to use!!
Done that plenty of times

I wouldn't send a group of guys who don't live here to Gautreau's or Clancy's. Two of the more regular-friendly places in NO. Clancy's food, while solid, is quite dated to me.
Cochon would be my suggestion here.
