Maybe I misunderstood him but I think he was arguing for what I argue for. Namely, that the government shouldn't be in the marriage business at all. If the government wants to have some sort of partnership certificate or whatever, so bet it(although I'm against that too) but marriage should be a private affair for BOTH straights and gays. Hence, no "separate but equal".
And yes, I know.....but what about benefits blah blah blah. ALL very easily handled.
I don't understand what is gained by your suggestion. You just want the government to use a different name for marriage? Why even bother?

Not reading all 25 pages, but here's one question that none of the bone smugglers can answer:
If it's so "natural" why aren't cows, dogs, cats, birds, deer, and all other species fricking each other in the bum?

You say anal sex is 18 times riskier than vaginal sex then in the next few lines you say bisexual men are giving it to women who are gi king it to men. Which vaginal sex is 18 times less risky? Man to woman of woman to man? How many men have you ever heard got hiv from a woman? It's possible but unlikely. Esp if you're circumcised.

Never claimed otherwise, but Im not sure how that is a reflection of its morality. If all gay men practiced safe sex, the rate of HIV transmission would approach that of the gen pop. And this is also ignoring lesbian sex, in which the transmission rates are virtually nonexistent.

I understand all the arguments for it and the subtleties that Christians apparently believe only they are privy to. I actually believed all of them for most of my life.
Not believing in something isn't equivalent to not understanding it. I know that the majority of Nonbelievers misrepresent the Bible out of ignorance, but that isn't a defense of the Bible. It is an argument against blindly spouting off angry atheist talking points.

What is not clear to me is why in states which don't formally recognize Gay Marriage do Gay Friendly Churches not put marriage programs together -- Legally and Ceremonially.
At conclusion of the ceremony the couple would sign contractual papers collected together in a packet, and including basics like Health Care Proxies, a Durable Power of Attorney, a Joint Tenancy Agreement, a Cohabitation Agreement, etc., even perhaps a Will. The state wouldn't even have a say.
