Are you implying the culture of success in America is derived from the culture of the Bible?

Not the bible, new testament.

I can't discount the possibility that Western culture in general owes some of its advances in freedom and technical achievement from its wide adoption of Christianity.

No way to prove or disprove but I don't believe it is mere coincidence.

Is that a fact? Can you fill me in on said solutions?

I read all this and all I can wonder is...do any of you actually interact with blsck people in your personal life?

all the time

last sunday i even went to TWO black churches

the pathologies of the poor black community are the same in the poor white community. it's not a race thing. it's about culture

i have given the SFP life path for everyone to use. it's up to the people to do what's on the list, though

ultimately life's choices come down to the individual. you ignore this and believe that you can magically choose for them via osmosis

well...i suppose you can...by the barrel of a gun via government...OH WAIT!

Technical advancement has been directly correlated with the increasing secularization of the western world. It is much easier to argue that Christianity was a driving force behind the dark ages than it is to give it credit for the industrial revolution.

whoa now

the fall of rome meant somebody had to assume a bureaucratic role. if the church didn't, we wouldn't be where we are today

and modern western culture has a lot of roots in christian theology/philosophy. there is a reason marx wanted to eradicate religion

Let's couch the conversation in terms of indigence. The race bit is stupid.

Targeted 2°education/vocational counselling/school choice.
Eliminating incentives for bad parental behavior. Diminishing rewards for bastard births. Boot camp programs for truancy.

I didn't say I agreed with it, I said it is a much easier argument to make.

well it may be easier to argue, but it's pretty much impossible to be right. so we should move on and focus on the OP

Jesus set an example of challenging orthodoxy.

I think this inspired secularists too.

Unless you can choose things like your parents, it's not this simple.

The "dark ages" argument has been widely discredited. When it was an argument it was mostly made by British, German, and American Protestants who compared their own success to that of Southern Europe, it was not an argument for the triumph of secularization until the 1960s when social deviants and Marxists used it for their own means. More later scholarship has shown that the Catholic Church was responsible for creating political order by ideas on limiting political power which was a combination of Roman culture and Christian Ideology.

White American Culture is based on English Culture, the key success for non English Europeans has been to adopt American culture whether Irish, Germans, Italians, Russians, Asians, or Jews. When African Americans have adopted American Cultural norms, they have largely been successful. When they follow the mythology of Africa or their own newly invented Urban culture they will not enjoy the "privileges" they seek.

Somebody has to break the cycle and white people can't do it for them or even call them out on it. Hell Bill Cosby calls out the black community and gets blasted for it

exactly

ok you want to excuse the kids b/c their parents suck? then do whatever you can to stop or ostracize them for being parents and attack the current parents

that's not allowed, though

Ok, so we've blamed the responsible party. Now what?
