Couldn't agree more. I'm glad I was lucky/privileged/whatever enough to not have to worry about "breaking" any cycle because I had two great parents and grew up in a stable environment. I count my blessings every day.

Umm yea I know one. He was one of my mentees at my alma mater. Got into Yale, waitlisted at Princeton.

I have a Hispanic friend in med school who had a HS GPA north of 4.0 and was a NMS who was rejected by Harvard and Dartmouth, so I'm sure it has happened.

I can't discount the possibility that Western culture in general owes some of its advances in freedom and technical achievement from its wide adoption of Christianity. No way to prove or disprove but I don't believe it is mere coincidence.

Maybe you can enlighten me on the purpose of the WP exercise.
We are all told it exists and drives the seen and unseen racial atrocities of the day. Yet, when white people ask why they should feel guilty over something that they cannot control, they are told that's not the purpose of the WP awareness exercise. So what's the end game? Every time someone says they admit it exists and then asks what they have to do about it, no one really gives a definitive answer as to what the solution is. Is step one to make it an accepted premise then have some bitter, seething college professor come up with the solution that he hands to the guilty white people to spread around the liberal blogosphere?

White conservatives need to just realize that unless they change their language and policies toward blacks, blacks won't vote Republican. It's that simple.
