1 might be too young but 2 is the start of the Disney wheel house. 2-8 or 9 is prime Disney age when they still believe in all the magic.

And they hit the 48" height mark which can happen at different ages for different kids.

You better stay at one of the resorts connected to the monorail system. Your kids are going to get tried, fuzzy, and overstimulated quickly... so instead of getting everyone trekking across the parking lot, back to the car, and to hotel, just hop on the mono-rail, back to the resort, and once they get rested, you can head back.

BTW- 1 & 2 year old are way too young for them to retain any meaningful Disney experiences.

Was waiting for a Disney thread to pop up.

My in-laws are offering to pay for airfare and lodging for us to go with them next May.

Is it a no-brainer to accept that offer? I haven't been since I was 4. Never had a desire to go since.

Your biggest downside will be the bus stop; there's just one for the whole resort.

That's information I didn't know. Thanks for the heads up on it.

We chose October to go this time because it's the "slowest" time of the year for Disney, according to Disney's statistics.

To draw more visitors during their slow month, EPCOT has a Food and Wine Festival in October for which all the countries in that park have special "free" food booths.

I plan on eating my way through EPCOT at least once while we're there...

I still believe in Disney magic and I'm a few years older than 9.

You're right about the time of year so it shouldn't affect you too much.

You are in an excellent spot for the F&W festival being able to walk to and from EPCOT so easily. I've yet to be able to go during October, but it's on the "to-do" list

I know you have to plan this stuff out atleast a year beforehand so I'm a few months behind. What are the guides and Internet forums I should be researching? I'll have a 1 & 2 year old then. What are some must do things/things to avoid? Where is the best place to stay? TIA

My parents took me to Disney Land when I was one. I have 0 memories of that week and wouldn't even believe that we went unless my parents had shown me pictures.

I always liked Disney World growing up, but my is obsessed. We ended up having our honeymoon there.

We both had a blast. There really is something there for all ages. Disney has some great restaurants and there are plenty of other things to do onsite besides the parks.

There you go. You take a 1yr old to Disney for your own memories, not their's.

Boardwalk Villas

Stayed there this past May. Booking Beach club Villas for November 2015.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on the DVC, just not sure if its going to be Boardwalk or Beach club.

Don't listen to the fricktards saying don't go. If they don't care for Disney World, that's find for them. Go and have fun. We have a 2 1/2 year old and we took her last October (18 months old) and then again in January (21 months) and she absolutely had a blast. Will she remember any of it? Probably not. But my wife and I will remember those 2 trips for the rest of our lives. In fact, the January trip was the best one we've ever had...it was just the 3 of us. We skipped most of the "thrill" rides and focused on things she liked and wanted to ride. It was relaxing and filled with great memories. If you want to go to create some memories for you with your kids, don't hesitate to do it.

Like someone said before, AllEars.net has a TON of info. You can also check out the DIS Boards discussion forums. Lots of podcasts have good info on their shows as well as websites.

For resorts, there are a lot of factors that you may want to consider. Do you want something close to parks? If so, which one(s)? Is money an issue? If you want to stay at a reasonably priced resort on-property, the I would recommend Pop Century or Art of Animation over any of the All Star resorts. They're all considered "Value" resorts and will be the cheapest Disney-owned accommodations you can find. If you want something close to the Magic Kingdom and you're willing to pay a good bit more, then you want either the Polynesian, Contemporary or Grand Floridian for easy access to the monorail. This also allows you monorail access to Epcot without having to use a bus - you just have to transfer trains at the Transportation and Ticket Center. If you want to be close to 2 parks without having to take buses, then either the Boardwalk of Yacht & Beach Club resorts are good. You have boat access to Hollywood Studios and the back entrance to Epcot. You can also walk to both and take buses to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

Are you driving or flying? One thing we did on our trip in January (we flew into Orlando) was to rent a stroller from one of the MANY online stroller rental places in Orlando. We got to the resort from the airport and the stroller was waiting for us. When we left, we dropped it off at the bell services and the company picked it up from there. The stroller was a nice, big stroller with a good big of storage capacity underneath to hold a diaper bag. It folded up easy and wasn't too heavy so getting it onto a bus was never an issue. And the price was very reasonable.

The bus stop wont be an issue, especially in October.

Might want to check on that. I know the food & wine festival adds a food booth for each country plus a few additional countries, but its not free.

If you only plan on you the points for the resorts (which is the only way to use them and get your money's worth), then buy resale. The biggest difference between Boardwalk and Beach Club is the Stormalong Bay which you can only swim in if you're staying at the Yacht and Beach club due to the popularity. Boardwalk has nicer and larger (slightly) rooms thanks to a recent renovation. Also, your contract will last longer than Beach club. Basically, unless you really really love Beach Club and have to have it any time of the year, go with Boarwalk

Ehhhhh, that's not really accurate. None of the food is "free" (I'm not sure why you quoted it). But there are a shite TON of booths. just be careful, you can end up spending a LOT on those booths. But, if you substitute the booths for meal, then you're good to go. Also, stay out of Epcot on Fridays or the weekends during Food and Wine....it gets CRAZY crowded. If you get there at 11am when the World Showcase opens, you can experience a good number of the booths with practically no wait in line.

We are staying at BC for the first time next November. We will make our decision on DVC after that trip.

I will probably prefer BWV, but I think the kids may prefer BCV when they get a little older.

I have looked into the resale market and that the route we will take. As of now, we are renting points. Much better deal than going through Disney.

wait until they are at least 3 and 4.

They won't remember the park at that age, and the size, crowds and heat will be too much.

I would suggest a much cheaper Beach or Mountain vacation for now.
