The meal plan used to be great. $36. Included tip and appetizer. No 2 table service restaurants. They wizened up quick though and now it's almost double that with no tip, appetizer, a dedicated menu and many of the best places "cost" 2 points.

The one way my wife and I gamed the system was by sharing the huge breakfast platter they had. It then gave us a few extra meal points to use at the high end restaurants.
Yep! You used to could drop the arrival or departure day from the plan and stockpile credits to use, that way.

Really small area. The street was tiny; shops were small. I could really see how it's a pain in the summer. The locker system they have is FUBAR as well. Hated it.

This is how I felt. After 2hrs waiting in line for the Hogwarts ride during New Years week I was ready to start swinging at all of the pushy Brazilians inside that tiny locker room that uses faulty finger print scanners.

There is also a premium plan available for the F&D festival.

Maybe you have that as well?

I'm not sure of all the details. My wife and daughter handled the booking and my contribution to the process was to give them my credit card to pay for it.

Of course!
Everybody gets to pick an in-park souvenir of the day. It's in your contract.

At least that's what my family always told me. Fml

I would wait until your kids are older, at least 5 or 6, before you go to a place like Disney World. Also, I would suggest Disneyland over Disney World. Disneyland is smaller and has most of the same big rides as Disney World plus some it doesn't like Cars Land and the Indiana Jones Ride. You can get a lot more done at Disneyland in one day than you can get done at DW. But if your heart is set on Orlando, go to Universal Studios. The rides are much better and has the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

MGM is about to get a major addition and they're also adding another track for Toy Story Mania. That whole area back there will be dedicated to Pixar. The Backlot Tour and Lights, Motor area is supposedly going to become Radiator Springs like they have in Disneyland but instead of a Test Track like ride they will add some type of new simulated coaster.

For the Star Wars crowd you'll be getting an expansion too. That's rumored to be done by 2016.

The closing of the Backlot Tour has been confirmed and will happen this weekend. I've heard nothing about a new track for Toy Story Midway Mania....but they have the space and it would definitely help with capacity. The "Carsland" rumors have been swirling for a few years. I'm not too sure that actually happens, though. I would prefer them to expand the "Pixar Place" area of the park into the backlot and add multiple attractions related to several Pixar properties instead of just one.

Dining reservations start 6 months out, so really, you just have to have your dates and stuff booked by then, unless you are going at a really crazy time of year where there is a chance hotels will book full. May is not one of those times. But I would not wait too much longer to book.

We go to Disney a lot, and have brought the kids twice so far, the first trip was when our oldest was 2 yrs 9 months, and the second trip was when our oldest was almost 6 and our youngest was 2 years 10 months. I use months because that makes a big difference at their age. I probably would not have brought them much younger than that. But, at that age, they are potty trained, they can walk around some on their own and they are old enough to recognize the characters. Also, FYI, there is no ticket cost for kids under 3, and there is no food cost if they eat off of an adult meal, or at a buffet place.

They will have the most fun in Magic Kingdom, as well as Animal Kingdom. At Studios and Epcot, it's mainly about the characters. Epcot has a lot of princesses. Jasmine, Belle, etc, are all back in the countries. Also, my kids loved Figment and the Under the Sea rides. At the Studios, they loved the Belle show, and Fantasmic. Otherwise, there is a bunch of Disney Junior characters there, and they have a character lunch that has characters from the shows there. When we last went, the lunch was Oso, Handy Manny, Jake, and one of the kids from Little Einsteins. But I think they have changed it out and now it's Manny, Jake, Doc, and Sofia.

We did 6 day park hopper tickets. We spent about 3 days in Magic Kingdom, a day in Epcot, most of a day in Animal Kingdom (it's kind of small) and one and a half days in Studios.

Stay in the All Stars and take the buses.

We rented strollers both times. Not from Disney, we used Magic Strollers I think? About half the price as Disney. When you check in, it's at your resort allready, and when you check out, you just leave it at bell services. You can take it in and out of the parks (can't do that with Disney strollers) and they are easy to fold up for the bus.

We spend a lot of our time and money on character meals, because it means we have a reservation, and, we can get pics and autographs with the characters there. This cuts down on having to stand in the super long lines to meet the characters. One of the cool character meals is 1900 Park Fare.

I think you can take kids that young, but it will be hard for them to make a full day. So you may want to plan on going in the morning, then headed back to take naps in the afternoon, and back out in the evenings.

This advice is just silly. Universal is a 1 day trip. Maybe 2 days if you want to do things multiple times. Disney World is a 5 day minimum trip and has a ton more to do. Not everyone in the world is in to Harry Potter either. My kids think it's silly and have no desire to see that. Also, a 1 and 2 year old will more than likely enjoy Disney about a bazillion times more than anything Universal has to offer.

Hollywood Studious is rumored to be going through a large refurbishment with everything from a name change to multiple new rides and possibly even redesigning the layout. It's all rumors though based on recent closures and the obvious need for Disney to have an answer to Harry Potter. Just this week they've confirmed the closing of "Back Lot Tour" which takes up a huge chunk of space in the back. Some people are saying Star Wars while others are thinking Pixar. And Lights, Motor, Action is also rumored to be on the chopping block. There is very little to do on that end of the park and doesn't take enough traffic away from Tower of Terror and Rock'n Roller Coaster.

Back Lot Tour used to be one of my fav attractions in all the world. When we went in November 2013, we were sure to do it, as it was becoming obvious that it was on the way out. It looked really bad. Pretty much all the tvs in the queue were messed up. The water cannon stuff had a whole bunch of broken stuff, to the point where they didn't even let a guest go out there. The props building was filthy. The tram drivers were mailing it in. It was sad.

So yeah with that going, and with LMA going, there is going to be a ton of room for new stuff.

Same is true for Christmas, Easter and Birthdays. Guess you won't/didn't celebrate those events with your children either.

The baby care centers are a huge plus at Disney. High chairs for feeding. Changing tables that aren't cramped into stall. Air conditioning.
