I filmed one night before last on my evening walk. Never realized they have a striped tail. I also seen a dead one on the road.

We have several around the feeder on the back porch all day. We've had more variety in the past but the members this year are good.

I'm having to refill my 3 feeders every day or about a 32 ounces a day. I occasionally have a juiced up flying fatality due flying into the screen porch. So far it's been safe flying this year.

Remember during Gustave they were feeding during the worst of the storm. After the storm they were unbelievable. Hundreds feeding on my 3 feeders. Had to fill up twice per day. It was amazing and since we had no power for days it ended up being our entertainment.

I don't know what is up with mine. I put mine out about two months ago and nothing. Then I had two. Then I went to the camp one day and the feeder was completely empty when I got back.

I filled it back up, and nothing.

Meanwhile I can't feed the regular birds enough. I have a regular wild bird sanctuary. I even have about 5 or 6 of those big doves (rock doves?) that are basically like pigeons now that will sit on the steps in the back yard waiting on me to pour out more food. They won't even fly away.

I've been feeding with 2 feeders this year and activity has really picked up in the last week or so.

Yall are probably seeing the first wave of the migrating hummingbirds. I've been feeding them for years here. They're great entertainment and they are wonderful mosquito catchers, too. The best place to locate your feeder is adjacent to an "edge" such as where woods meet an open area. They especially prefer areas with a creek or branch near, also. Hummingbirds are the only bird species that can't walk. Fascinating critters.

Went banding this morning, our professor had 72 feeders set up around his yard. They were everywhere. We banded around 30 in 2 hours

How can I fit the band on a lanyard?

Also, what size shot does the OB recommend so that the band will survive?
