Can Jennings get a first down in 3rd-12 situations against a good secondary?
I'm sure Anthony Jennings can throw a 12-yard dart.
Look, you don't need a big time arm to win championships. McCarron and McElroy didn't have rocket arms. Timing the throw and placement are much more important than throwing the ball at 70 miles per hour.

Did he point out that both of Jennings TD passes and the 2 Pt conversion against Wisconsin were when he was rolling out of the pocket? He might want to see how well Alabama has faired in the past against mobile QB's.

Once Tim can get on the field and defend the pass and one of our WRs, he may place an input.

What? This isn't a true statement.

so would politics. Cant do better than obama...cant speak.
Just an overall terrible stance.

Fletcher's comment is funny to me because I even though I do have some concerns about Jennings, this really isn't one of them. I want to see Jennings recognize coverages better and throw more accurately on short-intermediate routes, especially on screens.
I expect teams to roll a safety to Dural's side and AJ needs to be able to find the better matchup.

Forgive him. He's a Brandon Harris homer. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Honestly, I'd like to see a 3rd and 6 conversion where we complete an 8 yard pass instead of going for the deep ball. However, I do understand that it may have been a gameplan thing playing matchups with our receivers against the SHSU corners. If they were locked up with no safety help, I can see why we'd go for it all.
So his completions to Diarse against Wisconsin.

Both QBs still need to work on touch/accuracy/velocity (well maybe not BH on this one). They'll both continue to improve as the year goes on.
I'm more concerned with our penchant for going for the homerun ball on what seems like every pass. (Certainly not complaining about the TDs)
Would like to see some slants/crossing routes/intermediate throws in the next few weeks.

Tell Tim Fletcher that the TD Jennings threw to Diarse was a frozen rope, as stated by Chris Speilman.

I was all in for Harris but I feel like Jennings is doing well. He can take the top off of the defense that's impressive. Please stack the box and watch this guy beat you deep.

Yes, like the first one. The second completion to Diarse against Wisconsin hardly counts seeing as it was 3rd and 21 and we looked to be calling a play to get into field goal range, but Diarse had other ideas. Not a knock against Jennings on that play, just commenting.
Against SHSU, I was at the game and could see several times where receivers were coming open over the middle of the field but Jennings ignored them to throw the deep ball. Like I said before, if it was a game plan thing, just playing the matchups, I'm won't panic. But we will have some crucial third downs starting in a couple of weeks and we need to be able to convert.

its a fair point for sure. you would like to see more zip on the intermediate throwns

We can bump this thread after an sec game

We'll always be a team that tries to stretch the field vertically. That's who Cam Cameron is, so I'm not worried about a "penchant for the homerun ball.
My concern with Jennings is his tendency to float balls when throwing off his back foot. That's why every screen has looked terrible so far.

Its a fair point, but we all knew Jennings had a average at best arm.

Albeit a Tim Tebow type ball, the placement on the 2nd td was perfect.
Posted on 9/8/14 at 10:56 am to CharlesLSU
I think Jennings is the man this season for sure but my guess is Harris unseats him next season.

Dennis Miller would call that a "Weurffel ball".
