Ill be in the basin with ya, I want to try out Yancey but no boat makes that a tough one. Have found some secluded holes in the basin we are going to walk in on. Hopefully it starts cooling off soon so we can go scout them.

What kind of small boat? Hoping my bros buddy will be down to take his gatortail out there but he just had a kid so slim chances.

same here...hunted just south of Bunkie in rice fields for years till I just couldn't justify paying what I was paying for it...don't get me wrong we had some unbelievable seasons...but what I saved on that bought me a boat and for the last few years I've been hunting (scouting mainly) WMA's and public land...

Same thing I plan on doing after grad this Dec unless I happen across a damn good lease. Figure I just follow the birds and throw in some guided hunts to some hot spots.

Is there any water there before the river comes up?

As wet as its been this summer there should be water. A couple of big sloughs that always have water but not an abundance if flooded timber until the river rises
