Too many pages to go through but who would be the hitting equivalent of Dunn?

From earlier today:

@RandyRosetta: Bringing on Andy Cannizaro to replace Sanchez could be on par with #LSU coach Paul Mainieri hiring Alan Dunn three years ago.

This is awesome. I don't even care if the next coach sucks. Just want someone whom I see as part of LSU, not some random guy filling the position.

I don't even know what this means.

Good for Andy, who is a local boy and a good guy. But it is a little surprising to go with someone without any prior coaching experience. PM clearly views this role as having a big impact in recruiting. His scouting connections will be very helpful. The coaching is the unknown.

I would be pretty shocked if it's worse.

quote:

Sanchez coached the nation's leading hitter in 2012, as outfielder Raph Rhymes batted .431 and earned first-team all-America and SEC Player of the Year honors.

"I just found out the news and he's such a piece of the puzzle over there at LSU he had such an impact on not only men but all the players who have come through there. I can speak on behalf of everybody, all the hitters who have gone through there, he's had such an impact on everyone," Rhymes said.

"He's definitely one of the most influential motivators that I've ever met. He had a special way of motivating people and I know I wouldn't be where I am right now without Javi Sanchez. [Him leaving] will have a big impact on the program."

I know people won't take PM's word on the value of Javi but there's been a number of players speak out in support of him.

I hope he leaves LSU and Baton Rouge with a positive outlook and good memories of his time here.

I admire PM's loyalty but something has been missing in the program for a while now

Agreed. Everyone knows our hitting and base running is suspect.

LSU base running has been a disaster

Had to stick in PM's craw that ULL bunted, sacrificed, hit for average and still had power numbers while LSU struggled at the worst possible times

Where has the timely hitting gone? I realize power numbers are down everywhere but it seems like LSU has not had timely hits when they needed them. That screams approach to me

We we're 6th in SEC games only in RBI this year. Not great but not horrible.

Obscure stat here but in SEC games we were tied for 1st in RBI with a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs lol.

Our hitting can definitely improve, but I'm not sure it's simply an issue of "timely hitting".

ETA: Also we were 2nd in Batting Average with bases loaded lol
