They charge for everything. It sucks. My one flight I had with them kept getting delayed and delayed. Flight itself wasn't horrible, but the whole experience is just one I wouldn't have again.

I flew from Atlanta to Ft lauderdale for around $200 round trip with on time departure (earliest flight out). Landed in 90min or so. Yes they do charge for picking seats, carry on, checking bags, etc. but for my flight and it being short flight time it was worth it bc I didn't need in flight drinks, food, pillow, etc.

Just flew from Pensacola - Tampa - Key West then Key West - Fort Lauderdale - Orlando - Pensacola. Aside from stopping in every major city in Florida, sweating our butts off (no AC) and ears still ringing from the propellers and constant clanging it wasn't too bad. All flights were on time and employees were all friendly.

That being said I wouldn't fly with them again.

Never mind, thought you were asking about Silver Airlines

Looking at a flight in August. Spirit is just about half as much as any other airline. I've never heard of them, is it worth it? Or are they nothing but trouble?

Its not half as much. You will have to pay some more fees(even for carry-on). It is exactly what it says it is. If you don't read everything its not their fault. It will be cheaper however.

They will get you from point A to point B. It will be less comfortable than any other major US carrier, but that is why they are cheaper.

I will be filing the first lawsuit I ever have against them though. What happened to me was absolutely absurd.

By the way check out the site airlinequality.com.

Spirit is the only US airline to receive a two star rating.

In other words, the worst rating of any US airline, a rating given to airlines in countries like turkey, Iran, Nepal, bangledesh, Russia and so forth.

It is the lowest rating on the scale (2-5 stars).

You get what you pay for. Spirit and southwest both suck balls. Step up and hire a decent airline, not a rick shaw in the sky. Life is too short.

Delta for this guy. Singapore airlines when possible.

They've got cheap flights out of Dallas to Cancun and I considered them. The flight was about 200 bucks cheaper, but United allows a free carry-on and a free checked bag for int. flights, so it was going to end up being close to the same price in the end. I went with United.

While reading up on them, I realized they weren't worth the risk to me even if I would have saved a couple hundred per ticket.

Be prepared for delayed flights. Flew twice and both times flights were delayed about 2-3 hours.

Leg room is cramped. If you are tall, pay for the extra leg room.

Baggage fees for everything.

You get what you pay for. I don't think I will fly with them again.

Yeah, never got why some people criticize Spirit and then kneel down and blow Southwest. Southwest is like taking Greyhound, and are the worst on time airline in the country

I flew Spirit to Houston for the LSU game and had no problems. It was $132 roundtrip including the $50 to upgrade to exit row seats. I knew what I was getting into beforehand and got this bag as my one free personal item. It's actually a little taller than their 16x14x12 limit but fit in their size checker perfectly. That big can fit like 4-5 days of clothing. I heard people bitching both ways about bag fees and other charges but they should've paid attention when they were booking.

Flew them once from Houston to Vegas. Same shite as everyone else. Nickel and dime you, terrible service.

Flight was diverted from Vegas to Phoenix where we sat on the tarmac for 3+ hours with no updates as to what was going on and no drink service. Worst airline I've ever flow and I've flow some in 3rd world countries.

Avoid at all cost.

that's one negative about them. If your flight is delayed/cancelled, they won't transfer you to another airline so you're fricked if that happens.

Can you fit that bag underneath your seat?

I'm in the market for a bag that can pack 2-3 days worth of clothes, work computer, ipad, cords and also fit it underneath my seat.

Just got back from a trip and one of the other people at the car rental place had flown Spirit, had a miserable time, and was giving them a bunch of shite on Twitter in order to get decent customer service.

I thought she was just being overly bitchy and litigious until I read this thread.

It won't fit a laptop unfortunately.

ETA: maybe it will depending on size. It's not really made to carry a laptop

We traveled over 5000 miles by car in and out of hotel rooms and one extended home stay that required I set up a wifi network. I needed something that would contain all equipment, cables and chargers for 4 people and was still easy to move around. This little case carried 4 iPads, a 15 inch MacBook Pro, 4 digital cameras, one digital video camera, two portable hard drives, an Apple airport time capsule, a mobile internet hotspot, 2 wireless keyboards, 2 fullsized power strips, a backup power supply, and all the cords, cables, memory cards, rechargeable batteries and battery chargers to keep them all going.

quote:

"I used this bag to carry my 2 15" mac laptops, 2 cameras, cpap breathing machine, and all their accessories on my India and Australia trips...it rolled smoothly and I love its long handle...fits easily under the seat in front of you..love it..ordered one more for my daughter..."

quote:

"This is a good looking bag with solid construction and lots of room. I have not taken it on a flight so I don't know if it will fit under the seat yet. I actually bought this rolling bag mainly to replace my laptop bag, and to have room for extra stuff during flights. Unfortunately this is not made to carry a laptop and offers absolutely no protection for it. Inside is also one large compartment and has no dividers for a laptop. To make it work I added one inch thick foam under the inside liner on the back, sides. and the bottom. Inside is now soft and I feel more comfortable carrying my laptop in it. But because of the added bulk, I have lost a lot of the usable space. I still gave it five stars because it is a good bag for what it is made for."

quote:

"I've been using this to take to meetings. I've got another one that's larger but this is nice when I don't need much to bring with me but my items are heavy. I've got a 13" laptop and it fits perfectly inside, as do letter size file folders, etc. I'd probably take my larger roller-bag on a plane trip with me because it hold more but this is great for daily needs."

Instead of the lawsuit, try the DOT. They're usually pretty good at making sure you don't get screwed over (surprisingly). Should help you get your $$ back sooner.

Southwest has it's faults, but I take it if it saves me time.

I have the most miles with United and had a great experience with US Air. If I'm going to Houston, Dallas or Witchita I'm taking Southwest. They have short flights, and with Love Field being their hub they have a lot of quick hop destinations from there.

Also with SWA, you are always in at least a 737. The other lines have those cramped CRJ jets.

But yes the seats are smaller and the seating process sucks.
