I had to look it up - haven't been there yet. It's on Rosewood which is off east 11th around Navasota. It's another one that blew up after SXSW because Jimmy Kimmel went to it and featured it on one of his shows.

La Barbecue

...one benefit to trying for La Barbecue...if they are too busy you can always walk right across the street to Dock and Roll

I'm somewhat of a newcomer to BBQ and my intro to it came mostly in TX. Before moving here I lived in Slidell, LA which is dominated by seafood, Cajun, etc (still my first love in food).

So for you BBQ connoisseurs here's my question: do other states have anything like all these neat BBQ joints like TX does? IMO, it's really neat and one of my favorite things about TX.

For example, on our way to San Antonio a few weeks back I stopped and got some brisket and sausage at Joel's in Flatonia right off I-10 (that's the name of the place; not making it up). Seemed like just a shack on the side of gas station but it was filled with patrons, folks were very nice, brisket was good and sausage was a little dry, but still a fun dining experience.

Now love me some TX BBQ.

I'd rather drive to Louis Muellers in Taylor than wait in line at franklin, haven't had La BBQ yet.

I have been to Blacks. It was not that great and I wouldn't try again. I had brisket and sausage. Both mediocre.

Also, how does John Mueller BBQ stand up to LA BBQ? He used to run that place and his sister took over I think. It was great when he ran it.

Reporting back for OTIS.

sitting at coopers BBQ right now in Llano. I'm full as shite, but that's neither here nor there. Overall I give it an B+.

It's good, borderline great BBQ. I got a half link of sausage, about a third pound of brisket and a side of bacon mac and cheese.

Sausage was good. Not the best. I've had better sausage at Johnson's in lafayette. The brisket was a god damn 10. That hunk of meat was dripping in juices and it had a great ratio of fat in there. Bacon mac and cheese was tight. Sauce was good, but really thin, too thin IMO.

Overall really good BBQ and I'll come back one day if I'm in the area.

If was in the area, I'd eat there too. I'm glad you hit a good brisket. I'll look forward to giving it a shot again sometime.
