plus the last 2 books are going to be the longest ones yet right?

Not looking for major spoilers, but this story/show is basically about North of the Wall vs. South of the Wall? The series is expected to end when that is resolved?

I don't know, I would imagine so. There is a whole lot to wrap up.

The final book in the Wheel of Time series ended up being three very long books.

it has a lot more going on that i guess may not end up meaning anything when it is all over, but that appears to be the logical conclusion as to where everything is heading at this point.

I haven't watched much of the show, wanting to read the books first. Once I finished them all, I didn't have much interest in watching anymore. But I think I'm going to get caught up while I'm doing a reread of the books.

The problem with book 4 is very little happens as far as moving the plot along and the entire book 4 and the first half of book 5 take place at the same time. HBO is going to have a hard time with this as far as spreading them out into multiple seasons. Maybe they take a season to show some of the back story.

I think this is one reason HBO and the show runners are starting to give hints that they don't care too much about letting him finish first.

There's really no reason to believe there actually will only be two more books considering he's expanded the total number of volumes already.

I'm going to have no choice but to try to read them again at some point. I just found them dry and boring the first time I tried, but too many people claim them to be awesome. Determined to figure out what I'm missing at this point.

Ya I think the author allowing the show to finish before the books is an insult to his readers. Unless he tells the show one thing and lets them do that and writes a different ending that he envisions for the books.

I found a lot of other series in the genre much more entertaining than this one. The world didn't capture me as much as others did.

So does that mean the storylines start getting squeezed to lessen seasons? Better not!
Probably the opposite. They'll stretch it out to make more seasons.

Come on. What don't they squeeze every drop of life out of? Hunger Games = 3 books, 4 movies. Hobbit = 3 movies.

HBO is going to take the Boiled Leather approach to Feast & Dance.

I think 8 seasons total is what the series needs--assuming Fat Man finishes the last 2 books.

Exactly. 2 seasons max for both books. They basically have the same timeline.

Agree, 2 seasons MAX. I'm thinking no more than 1.5 seasons and they're going to start TWoW stuff intermingled with the ends of Feast and Dance too.

Books 4 and 5 won't translate well to TV, they'll have to put it in just a season + a little more. Then they'll have to improvise/get Ser Obese to give them some TWOW material. I just don't see the Hodors appreciating AFFC and most of ADWD.

Many book readers don't appreciate AFFC and ADWD. I know I am highly critical of AFFC. ADWD was better though.

A lot of book readers don't appreciate them either...there are definitely some chapters that are easily omitted during a reread.

I can see A feast for crows and a dance with dragons being one season each.

I'd say 3 seasons between the 2 books. The seasons covering the two books won't be divided as the books were. The timelines are overlapping.

There's not enough material in A Feast For Crows for more than a half a season, but HBO will drag it to 1, maybe. Most of that book is just filler. A Dance with Dragons is better, but not by much. Okay, now we're traveling and traveling and traveling and traveling and traveling and traveling and traveling. Is anything going to happen? Nope, still traveling.

The creator said the show will run 7 or 8 seasons.
