Just wondering ... what kind of dog is it and what color and what kind of vest???

I'm seeing a black dog on my FB feed that has a camo vest on ... found in Lafayette on Verot School road.

Not getting anyone's hopes up but to read 30 pages of this would take a while...

Not Grizz, he was lost in New Orleans East in the marsh, he is a liver and white German Shorthair Pointer, with a camo vest. He was chipped and had a collar with contact info...

OK ... KSMB (a radio station) has a pic of a dog that someone found in Lafayette ... beautiful black dog with a camo vest on ... check it out. Maybe someone on here knows who this one is for.

???

eta: If anyone checks that page out, scroll down ... there is a photo of a MISSING dog and his owner AND a photo of just the dog that was recently found. Doesn't say anything about having been checked for a chip or having a collar.

Hope the OP finds his best friend ... and that the found pup finds his family as well.

Update... Not much here... but I do know that email went to all vet offices in New Orleans area that work with the Home Again chip network.

Also did find out that not every vet scans every pet that comes in for chips - ie.. Johnny is a new customer wants shots for dog... don't necessarily scan.

A friend of mine was at a pretty good vantage point for awhile yesterday with binocs... no luck.

as for blocked number... meh.. half the people calling me to help look have blocked numbers.. including a federale working in that area.

if ya'll would have heard some of the calls I have gotten since this started... I wish I could block my number from them.... For every normal person trying to help. there are 5 that are plum crazy.

Including one who ripped me for taking a kid hunting and "making" my sweet dog go in the marsh with all those crabs, crocs, snakes, boars, gar fish, coyotes and crazy people with guns....."

Yeah I guess you could get all kinds of folks calling your number trying to make their stance on the matter mean something. Assholes gonna be assholes, I reckon. Some people think it's ok to kick a man when he's down and needing a hand up (like helping him find his hunting partner/dog).

What they fail to realize is animals who hunt are better taken care of than most who don't. I've never seen a duck hunter kick a dog (I'm sure there are exceptions...but I've never seen one). I've never seen a fox hunter or pheasant hunter mistreat an animal either....

And not to mention...you didn't "make" Grizz do anything...that's what he's bred to do as a sporting dog. Now if that imbecile TRULY wants to help make sure nothing happens to Grizz from the "crabs, crocs (yeah..crocs...right), snakes (saltwater??), boars, gar fish, coyotes, and crazy people with guns"....they'd get their asses out there and help you find Grizz...no..they sit their asses on their couch and criticize others on a topic they're not even educated to speak about.

Damn I can't stand humans sometimes...but then I come to the OB and see the fellowship to help a man rescue a dog..and realize there is hope after all.

My apologies for the rant/hijack.

On a positive note, we feel like we have made quite a few new friends and reconnected with some very old ones.

The part that sucks is not knowing what the heck happened to him.

Been watching this all unfold. My wife started crying last night when I told her about it. Still hoping for a safe return.

yes when he was reported missing, microchip service has an automated system that pushes it to every shelter and vets office as well as other users of same system in the area and then some.

Here's more prayers for Grizz's safe return.

A year ago my 10 yo black lab female ( who had never been a wanderer) busted out of the fence and ran off. My family and I looked frantically for several days. Unfortunately that didn't turn out so well, and I truly hope your dog makes it back to you. It's a terrible feeling not knowing where the dog is or what happened. I can't help you find him from this far away, but I sure feel for you. Emotionally it sucks, and it isn't easy to replace those great hunting dogs either.
