Funny story, I used to intern in the sports dept at the ABC station in Houston. We were covering a Katy high school game and one of the chain gang guys starts bitching that we're too close eventhough we weren't anywhere near him and threatened to have us thrown out. So we moved a little arther back.

Later in the game that chain guy was running to set the chains, tripped over them and ate shite on the sideline. The camera just happened to be rolling so we led the sportscast with him eating shite, showed a highlight of him eating shite, then closed the sportscast with him eating shite on a repeated loop.

That *is* a funny story. needs a gif.

They told the cop to do his job and the cop was the one that told the ref he would arrest him, then the ref turned around with his hands behind his back and said "I dare you." So he took him away.

Trying to figure out what the crime is.

Being a douche isn't a crime.

I know from experience, cops don't like when you put your hands behind your back like they did. That and being dared to make an arrest.

I used to referee.... Never.. ever.. did we ever have a problem with chain crew at ANY game.. chain crew.. at least back then... always knew we could ask that they get REPLACED....

NOW parents where schools let a lot of pops on the sidelines.... we had problems with those parents...

ironically.. one of those was on north shore.. slidell.. not saying which school. .but TWICE it happened where we had to have two dads removed from sideline..

was it a NOLA crew or hammond?

I am guessing there was some previous bad blood?

"Well, a referee asked a police officer to move some people back. The police officer moved them back. Another referee came up to the police officer and told him, 'that's not far enough.' The police officer explained....would you please handle the game, referee the game, and we will handle the crowd for you. The second referee told the police officer, nose-to-nose with the police officer, 'you're out of the game...get outta here.' And the police officer said, 'excuse me sir, just referee the game, and we'll handle the crowd.' And he says 'no, get out. Get out now.'

West went on to say, "There's several witnesses that stepped forward who stepped forward to say that's what happened. So, the two referees have been arrested for public intimidation."

How the heck is that intimidating? Was it the refs who were carrying guns and tasers?

It's a pervasive cultural phenomenon, especially prominent in the NOLA/Northshore area.

And therein lies the problem. It doesn't matter what they like or don't like. What matters is what is legal or illegal.

A ref trying to kick a working police officer out of a game. Epic. They were definitely having a who can blink first douche off and the cops always gonna win that one.

I don't know what was illegal, but if they feel intimidated they'll make something up. That's for sure.

I guess the question comes down to can the ref throw the cop out the game. If so how can the cop arrest the ref when he is the one not listening to the ejection?

Saying "I dare you to arrest me" is not illegal. It's douchey, but not illegal.

Telling a cop to do his job is not illegal. Again, it's douchey, but no laws are broken.

The cops abused their authority. The refs were douches. That's the difference.
