Oxyclean free or PWB will remove almost everything and won't damage you plastics without extremely high temperatures or long exposure times.
True. BetterBottle has been putting out some disclaimers recently on cleaning them even with just PBW.

Hdpe. Harvey, our brewer, said I'd be good to go

I bottled up an IPA that I brewed a few weekends ago... It had been a while since I had bottled and now I remember why... That is just horrible.

Are we talking bottling from a keg or bottling from a bucket with some priming sugar??
Bottling with a counter pressure filler isn't awful, but I'll let the CIA waterboard my happy arse before I go back to the bottling bucket.

I was from a bottling bucket, but the biggest pain is cleaning and sanitizing bottles. The actual bucket isn't that big of an issue to me. Threw a movie on and filled em on up.

I wash the bottles with PBW, rinse and put them in the dishwasher.
Set to sanitize with no soap.
Put the bottling bucket on counter above dishwasher.
Fill right there using the dishwasher door as a table top.

question for you guys. Last night I made a 2L(or there about) starter of WLP001 for a Pliny clone. My plan is to brew tonight. I am concerned the starter will not have had enough time to really build up. I also intend to cold crash the starter to decant most of the liquid. The starter is not on a stir plate, I've just been swirling when I go in the kitchen. Here are my options:
1. Proceed as normal. Put starter in the fridge around 2 or 3 to crash.
2. Brew as normal tonight, but wait to pitch until tomorrow. I can put the starter in the fridge tonight and pitch in the morning, or put it in the fridge tomorrow morning and pitch when I get home from work.
3. Brew Thursday, giving the starter plenty of time. Problem here is the chance of rain on Thursday night.
What would you do?

If I were in your situation, I'd do option 2 and pitch tomorrow afternoon.

You know my opinion. You're gonna lose enough liquid to the hops that the 2 liters of wort/yeast starter will be fine to add directly to the fermentor.
Oh, and relax and have a homebrew.

#2 and pitch the whole starter!

I don't want that nasty DME wort in my delicious GOAT clone

How do you think the rest of us make yeast starters?

Do most of you decant or pitch the hole thing?

I pour a little off the top of my 1L starters but not too worried about it at all really. 2L starters I'd decant. Crash cool during brew day and decant off prior to pitching.

I decant anything over 1L...

I usually pour the whole thing in, but most of my starters are made from leftover wort from the brewday. Even when it's an extract starter, I usually dump it all in as I like to pitch at high krausen. I have read it's better to do that, but I have no basis other than that as to why I do it. Who knows if it makes a difference.

I'm going to go with the "brew tonight" option. I will decant based on how much wort I get into the fermenter. Like B said, with as much hops as I will be using, there is a good chance I will lose more wort than I wanted anyways
thanks guys
