A 2008 paper in The Journal of Wine Economics, for example, found that when consumers are unaware of a wine’s price, they “on average enjoy more expensive wines slightly less [than cheap ones].” Experts do not fare much better. The study could not conclude that experts preferred more expensive wine: “In sum, we ?nd a non-negative relationship between price and overall rating for experts. Due to the poor statistical signi?cance of the price coef?cient for experts, it remains an open question whether this coef?cient is in fact positive.”
In another experiment, critics tasted one red wine and one white wine. They described the red in language typical of reds and the white in language typical of whites. The problem? Both were identical white wines; the “red” had been tinted with food coloring.
Another study looked at the accuracy of the influential 100 point scale invented by wine critic Robert M. Parker Jr. By having judges at a tasting rate the same wine multiple times, retired statistician and hobbyist winemaker Robert Hodgson found that the judging was completely inconsistent:

I'd like to see this actual study because that makes absolutely no sense. Go get a Cabernet and a Chardonay, blindfold yourself and taste them. They aren't even close. Would you be able to tell the difference between a coke and a sunkist? That's how big the difference is. I could tell the difference and I'm far far far from an expert. I drink only a few glasses of wine a year. These critics must have no taste buds at all.

I don't understand the butthurt people have over folks who enjoy wine and are able to talk and describe favors and even free associate when talking about their personal take on a certain wine.
Seems like there's a self-conscious element at play here among the folks who think every single wine in the world tastes the same and people who think different are snobs or full of shite or both.

I drink wine bout every week and I have many favorites under $20. This discussion doesn't effect me because I'd really never pay over $25 for a bottle.

We did an experiment like this @ lineup once. Replaced a bottle of Peju with the box wine from the kitchen. Every server failed. Some very enjoyable wines can be purchased @ Trader Joe's for under $12... Only the people preoccupied with status quo are opposed to buying/drinking cheap wine.

Yeah, it's the wine drinkers that are a bunch of idiots.
Please, start another thread about which pizza chain is the best....
Do you really dislike wine? You realize wine drinkers don't care if non wine drinkers don't like wine. We are comfortable with and enjoy experiencing wine without your support. Why the hate???

While I'm not a big wine fan nor am I impressed with the variety there is definitely a difference.
Go to a wine tasting place like W.I.N.O and it's pretty easy to tast and see what you like or don't like.
That being said.... Beer is more complex and superior in just about every way.

I might consider you less of a troll if you came up with better thread titles.
What kind of response are you really expecting with a question of "Is wine bullshite"?
