I never see anything about Beagles on the board. Surley with as many swamp rabbits as there must be in the swamps someone owns beagles and hunts them,,,

I had them my whole childhood till an insane neighbor poisoned them and caused a war.

Crazy cat lady 4 beagles - Faxis 40+ cats and 1 fully trained attack Pinscher in self defense.

But that was the end of my beagle days.

Love 'em, but damn if they don't make a shite-ton of noise during the night.

Your title led me to believe that you are hunting beagles, which I think some on here actually do during deer season. Personally I love a good rabbit chase and can't wait to get back south or some place where I can have a good pack of rabbit beagles again.

It's very hard to find good beagles these days. They're all those little sawed off field trial dogs that run at 1/2 the speed of smell. The fast ones seem to always run deer. Just a PITA now that deer are everywhere.

I hunt rabbits with them occasionally and used to have a few we'd run deer with when we hunted Mississippi. Now we hunt the swamp and beagles would drown, so we use hounds.

I had buglers from the time I could walk until about 5 years ago. Then we started having chirren, moved and whatnot and I let my pack go. That will change this year as my little boy is about thicket thrashing age. As soon as it cools down a little I'm going to build me a beagle palace and restock the herd. I've got access to some killer swamp rabbit spots down around Crowley/Midland. May can have an OBGT rabbit blasting next February..

My dad and I had several when I was a kid/teenager. We hunted the woods behind my neighborhood all the time (It's a neighborhood/golfcourse now). We also got invites to other peoples deer leases and farms because our dogs could hunt. We always seemed to have one slow one with a great nose and a fast one with a decent nose. The fast one would actually catch the rabbit every now and then.
Sadly, the two we had left went I went off to LSU ran away and dad never found them and neither of us ever bought another dog.

I felt guilty about it recently because my kids grew up without a dog and the first thing my daughter "bought" when she graduated from college last fall was an SPCA rescue mutt.

My club banned dogs several years ago so I haven't been on a beagle hunt in a while. All I have left to shoot at is big ole cur dogs. I miss the challenge of shooting the short little fast moving beagles though. And coyotes just don't give me the same thrill
