I don't even care if he's successful. This is a horrible hire. When you river ride a flush in poker, you still made the wrong call. Hiring a player who retired two weeks ago is the wrong call.

He's either going to flame out quickly or be very successful. That's typical Kidd, though, he threw every coach he ever had under the bus, save Carlisle. Hopefully he gets the same treatment from his players now.

I wonder how many people in this thread are aware of how little a role NBA head coaches play relative to other leagues. Over-coaching is more often a problem than under-coaching.

I wonder how many in this thread are aware that serving as HC while simultaneously playing used to be extremely common in the NBA, and some of them had great success, including championships

Nets hire next coach Deron will get fired. BTW all the people who are on Mark Jackson's nuts were okay with him being hired despite not paying his dues as an assistant.

This. My guess is that he's no longer their coach in two years.

Avery Johnson did basically the same thing. He hasn't proven to be a great coach, but he sure hit the ground running his first few seasons.

Of course, nothing has gone well for him since.

I don't dislike Jason Kidd at all and think one day he certainly can be a HC in the league, BUT this is stupid

Popavich said that he will most likely be really good. I posted the article in another thread yesterday. Pop knows his shite.
