Anybody been to this before? Is this something that I would feel comfortable bringing my 1 year old baby to for a while or is it usually real crowded? As long as there's an area somewhere off to the side that we can just put down a blanket or something for him to crawl around on we'll be fine.

Onto the food...

Food Lineup

Any items standout?

The menu looks awesome. It'd be awesome if the event could be held at a time when the star of the show was at or approaching peak flavor...maybe a late Fall date, so as to promote oysters into the peak of their "flavor season".

I agree although I think I heard or read that they have it when they do in order to try and debunk the myth that oysters can only be enjoyed in the "r" months.

Understandable...stretching the season, so to speak. And, with a cooked oyster dish, or at least most of them I can think of, a summer oyster is fine. These folks are smarter marketers than me...

I think that is the spin and probably a noble goal. But I still will never understand why you dont have an oyster festival that celebrates oysters at the peak of their season.

I think it is more to try and put heads in beds one last time.

This, and just general availability of Festival time. I'm not sure how old this fest is, but they may be late to the party.

I remember the first year they held it in a parking lot with zero shade on a cloudless 95 degree day. Good times.

Ha, you may be misremembering it as heatstroke was the Plat du jour.

Wish Peche was on that vendor list. Best oysters I have had in a long time.

Eh. I'm festivaled out. Frankly attending two or three a year is enough for me. Don't know how these Nola people go to a different festival every single weekend. Gets boring. Just my 0.02.

The trigger is getting pulled. Lite lunch that day. Eat everything possible for dinner and fall off into a food coma.

They don't. They say they do...but they don't. I have a buddy that is at a random festival every freaking weekend...be it in Bogalusa, Monroe or New Orleans. But he's sober and switching vices.

I'm hoping they will be ok in some of the dishes. Who knows. I'm just looking forward to a good time.
