I personally consider cajun or creole food to be different than southern food.

My first thought was a jello dessert with crushed pineapple and Cool-Whip on top.

Grits - love
Chick & Dump - bleh
Gumbo - not 'Southern'
Fried Chicken - yes
overcooked mushy vegetables - bleh

These are a few of my favorite things.

And you can't get much more southern than me.

1. I hate chicken and dumplings. No one in my family ever made it.

2. Cajun is not Southern. It's a subset.

3. There was an old country guy I knew who loved Graham crackers, with cream cheese and pickapeppa sauce.
He would spread the cream cheese over the cracker and then squirt this..

Not sure if it's Southern or just a quirk.

I believe pepper jelly and cream cheese on crackers is a Southern snack.
