He was awesome when he played against Arkansas. His natural position.

I'll be interested to see how much weight he puts on, but if he can still maintain his explosiveness with a little more weight then this is his best position.

The Colts Bob Sanders was a short safety but weighed about 200lbs. Mathieu is about 186lbs but he is very stout. I could see him putting on 10lbs and being effective.

Probably the best position for him to succeed in the nfl. He was never a lock down cover corner. I'm sure he could make it as a CB in the nfl, but he always seemed better when he was roaming and could blitz or just make a read on the ball.

He's always a tiger as far as I'm concerned for what he did on the field while he was here. Do I feel bad he dropped to the third round? Not one bit, because he brought it on himself. But the cards have now become my second favorite team in the nfl with the lsu defensive connections. I hope he turns into a star. Then he can retire in 15 years and smoke all the ganja his little heart desires.

I always though he might end up at AZ with his good friend Patrick. The only thing that is interesting is that his added value as a returner will probably go largely unused.

Perhaps they can put him on kick off returns, but with the new rule changes it will be harder to contribute.

He looked as big as his frame can handle. His strength is in his hands (and his kiss)

He can be a Troy Polamalu type player IMO

I always thought of Mathieu as more of a natural Strong Safety, playing a Troy Polamalu type role.
