Burke, unless we obtain a PG through FA or trade, then Oladipo

The Raptors' pick, their own pick, and Lamb or Perry Jones III sounds reasonable for the 6th pick.

Burke, Oladipo, Porter. Those are who I want most in no particular order.

And just from what I've seen, I think Oladipo is much better at getting his own shot that he's shown. Handles are better than he gets credit for. Just needs more time and experience to hone it.

Trey Burke... You build around a young point guard, whose proven that he can put his team on his back...

I don't like picking people who rose in the draft based on tourney performances, its too much of an arbitrary/temporary thing.

I think that whole, winning the National Player of the Year helped, too. He's no flash in the pan.

re: The 5th pick scenario

Oladipo if he is there.

If not trade out. Burke doesn't fit this team because he is undersized, doesn't pressure the ball well, and needs length around him to cover up those shortcomings on defense. Gordon isn't a guy who can provide that for them to be effective on the defensive end. Burke is good offensively but he won't stop teams from scoring 30 point quarters against us. Burke will have trouble against guards with elite quickness.

Dipo is long, super athletic, has a knack for the ball defensively, can guard the 1,2,3 effectively, has been an efficient offensive player who can hit the three and get to the rim at will with the potential to get better. He continues to improve and will be a game changer right away. Comparisons to Wade aren't far off besides Wade being able to handle the ball a littler better out of college and being able to shoot off the dribble. But Oladipo is a better 3 pt shooter than Wade was out of college.

Back to Back National Players of the Year???

From what I understand, I think the only thing people don't like about Burke is his size, right?

I'd like to see how he measures compared to Paul (is he too small). Paul measured under 5'11.75" without shoes at the combine. Rondo is only 6'1". Ty Lawson is 5'11". Tony Parker is 6'1".

Honestly, I'd like Burke a lot and I say that as Gravy's biggest supporter on this board.

His size, his quickness (Paul had elite quickness), his inability to pressure the ball defensively. And all the guys listed have elite quickness. Don't mind Burke but he doesn't fit what the Pelicans need. He won't stop the opposing guards just like we couldn't stop them this year.

His size,

I really think this is greatly overstated. He's not Nate Robinson short. Some of the best PGs in league history have been sub-6'.

I can't attest to this at all. I don't think anyone think he has Paul's pre-injury quickness, but not many do. Paul is doing just fine without that elite athleticism these days.

I really had no interest in college basketball this year outside of LSU, so I'm just providing food for thought.

Burke has average quickness. He attempts a lot of jump passes. My main concern with him is his defense. Do we need scoring? Probably. But it doesn't help if we have a guard putting up 18 and 8 while the opposing guard is putting up the same numbers or better. GV hurts us though he is good on offense because he gives up so much on defense. Burke wouldn't be that much different. Minor upgrade. With having said that, we need to upgrade the PG position. GV would be a fantastic off the bench guy.

question is how do you keep GV and upgrade the pg position if you don't want to take Burke?

GV probably needs to be included in any trade for pg help (Jennings/Evans/Bledsoe).

i guess if they think Rivers is ready to be productive in a larger role, you can deal GV for an upgrade and avoid Burke. but that's a big if at this point.
