So a couple of Mondays ago the gf and I set out looking to find a good chicken curry dinner in the NOLA area. Apparently, it was either an Indian holiday or they just don't make curry on Mondays because we drove to La Thai on Prytania, Nirvana on Magazine, and then down the street to SukhoThai and they were all closed. So, apart from not seeking out curry on Mondays, what other recommendations would y'all give for our next adventure? TIA.

now that Singha Thai in the CBD is no more the only good Thai joint left in Nola is Cafe Equator in Metairie.

*not counting West Bank here .. I've heard Banana Blossom is solid over there though

Taj Mahal on Metairie Rd is open on Mondays; it's owned by the same family as Nirvana. NOLA definitely needs more Indian food...the tandoori buffet on Cleary is open Mondays, too.

RE: Thai curries, I like Banana Blossom on Belle Chasse Hwy in Gretna...also open on Mondays. My go-to Thai spot is Siamese in Metairie (in the same strip mall as Tiffin Inn, Sandro's, Phidippides, etc), but it's closed on Mon and Tue.

Since the building next door fell on top of it -- or at least a big 4 story wall of it did.

It's still there. They're topping the panang curry with flaked plaster and steel shavings now.

Thanks for the input guys (and girls). It definitely doesn't have to be a place that is open on Mondays, we just happened to be looking that day. Bangkok Thai on S. Carrollton is a 5 minute walk from my house so I was hoping someone would have good things to say about it. But, the gf lives in Metairie so any of those places are viable options as well. I don't make it to the other side of the world known as the westbank much, but if that's where the best is found then that's where we're going.

If you do make it to the Westbank, hit up Saffron Nola!

Cafe Minh is eclectic pan Asian food. A little bit of everything on the menu, from pho to tempura shrimp, with stops along the way at tuna nicoise, banh mi, and udon noodles. Menu: LINK
The kobe beef burger is damn tasty.
