He don't have to call the perfect timeout at the perfect time. I don't care who he puts in or when he puts them in. Great players make great coaches and good players make good coaches. In his first full recruiting class he did something that Trent J. couldn't do in his 4 or 5? years as coach; get a top ten (#6) class of incoming freshman. A top 10 recruting class buys the man a few years to even be judged at all as a coach. Part of being a head coach is recruiting. He is the man so far in that regard. Ignorant Negatigers, you have no basis for bashing him.

What? You think negatiger need a reason? They hate the winningest coach in LSU football program's history( and he just won the SEC and he recruits TOP 10 CLASSES EVERY YEAR )

He was getting a pass for this year by anyone who actually follows the program. We had no depth coming back and very little size. The cavalry is coming next year, but this year was supposed to be bad.

I betcha he says in the ADVOCATE tomorrow that he lost the game or something to that effect. Maybe he had the brook trout look?

There is plenty to be questioned about Jones' in game coaching to this point that has nothing to do with the lack of talent on the team. Use of timeouts, defensive philosophy, substitution patterns, etc. he should not be judged until he's had a few years with his own guys, but there are at least a few things to be concerned with at this point.

CJJ will ultimately be judged over time. He'll get enough time to show what he can do here.

I think we've seen the typical fan reactions in the moment one always sees. There was a little bit too much fellating by some early and maybe too much sky falling now.

But it's certainly fair to judge the games played each on their own merit and it ain't pretty in any of the last five games.

Time to give us something besides recruiting to hang our hat on. That's all we have till next year.

Recruiting has been top notch for sure. Hell, even this year, we had no one coming in and then Jones went on a tear as soon as he was hired. May not be the best class out there, but really strong considering the situation imo. As for the negatives, I think that mistakes have been made by coaches and players. Hopefully they will iron these out and it is not indicative of larger issues. I have been disappointed by the substation patterns that I have witnessed this year and I believe that some of these have cost us momentum and maybe even a few games already. With that being said, I'm very much a fan and am looking forward to some solid years of LSU BBall.

with less than 30 sec left with a tie game taking the last shot, I don't think JOB3 for 3 is the smartest of ideas.

That has nothing to do with whats coming in next year.

Jones must and probably will recruit well. You just cannot play at a high level with two five foot eight guards on the floor. I

I agree that the shot by JOB and the lack of planning for a shot with a timeout if that's what's gonn happen are definitely points that should be addressed.

As for our two 5'8"ers, those are are two best players. If we didn't have them, we'd be in much worse shape.

There was no play designed for obryant to take a three. It was pretty clear that it was all on hickey to make a play, like he had done a few times in the last few minutes. He got in the lane and kicked it out instead of shooting it's as simple as that. Never would have thought though that i would rather del pierro in the game at the end over obryant. He has become our top big man.

If you knew as much as you think you know, you wouldn't wasting your fricking time on a board.

Compared to Trent Johnson CJJ looks like John Wooden, at least we got a shot off. Sometimes Coaches let their kids play in crucial times because they have practiced those situations. I am not disagreeing with anyone on this, a timeout seemed appropriate at that time. But compared to what we have watched the last four years it is like night and day. Every player on that team is better. CJJ will be fine.

So the coach can just mail it in this year? I expect that he will coach differently next year with more talent, but that does beg the question as to what he is doing this year... sandbagging?
