re: Demographics have Democrats targeting Texas and Arizona

quote:

OP's hands are effectively tied behind their backs.

No in fact they are not. I would guess the GOP will change to address this.
quote:

We will regress into a one-party system,

Not over the long term. Remember from 1968 to 1991, republicans won 5 of 6 terms. Democrats adjusted, reformed a coalition and they hold the lead in national elections.
quote:

hich is something that truly delights the liberals on here

they are just laughing at the angry white males, I doubt anyone thinks a one party system is a good idea.
quote:

We will be similar to western Europe soon enough.

doubtful

Keep telling yourself its not the republicans fault and see how this works out for you.

I love how conservatives are for self responsibility except when it comes to their campaigns.

It's a new era. For the GOP, it's not some game in which the party can tinker its message without alienating its core base which still exists as a solid minority. Concurrently, progressivism has a natural tendency to expand over time.

I'm not some loon and I'm not an angry old fart. I'm young and I see a troubling trend.

Bull shite.

The perception that Republicans are racist is the result of years of effective propaganda.

And I guess Goldwater's opposition to the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the Southern Stratgey from 1968 to 1992 had nothing to do with it.

quote:

It has nothing to do with "tone."

See Robert Byrd, the brutally racist history of the Dem party, the fact that Republicans passed the civil rights act, etc.

It's a 40 year strategy that worked and sadly, has fricked over black people.

As long as you folks continue to rewrite history and bury your head in the sand, the Republican party is doomed. You're a textbook example of the problem.

They can't handle the truth. Where's Colonel Jessup when we need him?

Yep. The GOP needs to try to rebuild its image with minority voters. Unfortunately it'll take more than one election cycle to do it, and politicians are only worried about the next election.

TONE not message! Maybe de-emphasize gay marriage and abortion, certainly get rid of the litmus tests.

But a pro-liberty message fricking sells. The problem is that it comes with all sorts of other shite that isn't pro-liberty.

Read the Blue Print. Democracy Alliance made Texas a heavy target.

Not TOTALLY impossible., but they keep pandering to the angry base & GW Bush (44% Hispanic vote)tried to pass immigration reform & got backlash from his own party ,not Democrats. Bush immigration reform could have secured the GOP some more loyal Hispanic support.

The GOP had a great oppurtunity with Bush immigration reform ,but now they only have a CATCH-22 on their hands:

1) Go along with Democratic Party promoted & Obama signed mmigration reform & the Democrats get credit/ credibility / indetification with Hispanics.

2) Continue to fight against immigration reform for the next 4 years with their angry rhetoric against Undocumented workers & further alienate Hispanics(Arizona/Alabama & angry GOP Presidential primaries).

The Republicans could exact thier revenge long before this happens. All they need to do is to divide the state into five parts, which it is allowed to do. The Houston area would be the only blue part.

Don't bother refuting the conservative storyline. The patently false rhetoric and rampant bigotry is what's killing them in the elections.

The strongest GOP base is the Old Confederate States' working class & even Bobby Jindal knows it's a foolish strategy to continue.

The GOP had managed to alienate most in the the Jewish, Asian, Hispanic & Black communities(alienating non Southern women as well) & they are still insulting those groups instead of reaching out.

Just curious.

How has the GOP "insulted" these groups?

The Jewish and black vote have been the Dems adopted children for decades in case you haven't noticed that trend yet. The Hispanic vote is problematic when the Feds will not allow the validity of a persons right to vote with proof of ID at the polls. The only surprising one is the Asian one. Generally the oriental mind set is very much about the individuals self interests and that of the family unit as a safeguard for the clan.

pretty much - but if they do #1 it will have a chance to eventually disappear as a major issue

The explanation of why the Republicans lost this time being pushed by some like Bill O'Reilly and Rush is really wrong headed and self-destructive when it amounts to "because people want stuff" .

The margin among single women continues to grow because the abortion debate has crossed over the tipping point between respectful disagreement and barbarism with the legitimate rape and a child from rape is a gift from God discussions. As a philosophical matter I fully understand a person who believes abortion is murder believes the same is true in cases of rape - but people show their belief systems based on what they do... and women disagree and have abortions in considerable numbers every year.

Blacks are traditionally democratic (blame the Republicans Southern Strategy targeting States' Rights over Civil Rights for this) but this election was also a special case they were going to turn out for when it was about making the first black president more than a one and done presidency.

Latinos were probably a natural fit for the Republican party but they have been pushed to the Democrats aisle because of the verbiage associated with the Republican primaries and laws like the law in Arizona. This stuff becomes very intrusive for people who are Hispanic or look Hispanic and negative affects their daily lives (and consequently their perceptions of the party pushing these policies). If the Republicans could just keep their dogs from pulling a Pat Buchanan at the convention every four years some of the edge would come off this. Even still the hostility that has and will continue to be generated may have political repercussions for years to come.

Asians as a minority group tend to be highly educated and successful in the United States and they are swinging to the Democrats aisle as well - the most reasonable explanation for this is probably spillover from the Republicans discussions about illegal aliens (Asians are often recent immigrants as well and they don't feel welcomed).

Just wonderfully clueless. I know this board just thinks what I'm about to point out is silly political correctness. But "oriental" is offensive to Asian Americans. All these questions about what did the Republican party do to offend.....pick your demo. How about civility and good manners. Everybody who doesn't agree with me is an idiot, moron(or as the tea baggers spell it "moran". Anybody who didn't vote for my guy is a moocher, just wants free stuff. If I'm hard working, law abiding legal hispanic - perhaps a business owner - and I see that stupid Sheriff or the Governor of Arizona on TV with an R next to their name I'm not voting the deficit - I'm voting to protect my family from people who really don't like/hate me just because of my heritage.
