So the wife and I are going to Dublin over Thanksgiving, and Ireland is playing Argentina at Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening. I have a limited understanding of the game, but feel I will still enjoy it thoroughly. The wife has no idea about the game.

1) Tickets are available but generally about $70 per person. Is this too much for a game like this?

2) Any thoughts on how I explain the game to the wife? Especially since my own understanding is limited at best.

No. And the Irish love rugby. And the Aviva is fricking awesome. And I love the Argy NT. They play a really attractive style.

I will most likely do it. I'm a fan of sport of all kinds. Seeing a country in its sporting element will be awesome. Next time around I'll have to catch some GAA events at Croke Park.

No that is not to much, Argentina is a great team and the Irish fans should provide a great atmosphere. You'll be witnessing some real high level rugby so explaining it your wife could get complicated, but if you get the basics down for her I'm sure she'll at least enjoy it.

I am willing to bet if you talk to the people around you and say you are American you'll find they will help explain the game....at least the Aussies did it for me in cricket.

Also there was a thread a few weeks ago about union rules.

Just being there and watching two if the best rugby teams in the world will be experience enough!!

Unfortunately last minute change of plans. We are going to London instead. Appreciate the feedback. Will definitely catch a game at Aviva once we do hit Dublin.

DUDE?!!?

London has some upcoming games at Twickenham Stadium, I'm pretty sure New Zealand is playing England
That's the two top teams in the world right now... you should check and see if there's and games when you're in town.

The national team playing in a Rugby crazed environment should be an AWESOME experience. Wear the colors and have some fun!

As I'm sitting here watching a recent game I downloaded, I'm thinking if you have half an interest in a game that you have a chance to go to, then you should!

First, Landsdowne (aviva) is a great place for a game. I have seen Ireland play there about ten times and my first match was against Argentina also.

At these matches for 5 or 10 Euro they have the Refs ear. It is an ear piece that you hear the ref the whole game so it will quickly let you understand wHat is happening. And you also hear all the cursing :).

I will reply with more info in the morning on Pubs and what not on a rugby day in Dublin
