Thank you so much for doing all that you have done. I remember that mural well and it was so beautiful. Again I can't wait to show my step-dad all the pictures you took and talk about the memories. Just yesterday he told me after going out there..."If only those walls could talk they would have never torn it down"...lol

Awwww! :( Thanks for joining me over on the FB page -- look forward to hearing your Bellemont stories and hopefully talking to your stepdad soon!

FYI, all: WAFB is postponing the Bellemont piece until 6pm on Tuesday.

Yeas he is a little sad...but my step-dad has declined somewhat over the last year, but he has vivid memories of the Bellemont and talking about them seems to perk him up a bit. I will be in late Friday and I'm sure I will be able to find the time to either scan it to disk for you or go over to a photo place and have it copied. Thanks for your interest in the photo and mural.

Just bumping to say that the WAFB story on the Bellemont will air tonight at the 6pm broadcast. It was supposed to be be on last night but the news conference about the missing Lafayette cyclist took precedence (as well it should! Sad situation...).

If you miss it, it will be on WAFB's website tomorrow. They are also supposed to be adding a slideshow of some pictures of mine as well as some their guy took and possibly some from the slides I swiped from the safe. I've been adding more to the Flickr set if anyone has an interest. And I'm hoping that Colleen from AbandonedBatonRouge will have her article and pics up soon, too -- she has a teaser up saying that they're coming soon.

Can you ID the ones in the first photo? Looks like Cannon on the far left. Also do you know the year the photo was taken?

From left to right Billy Cannon, Warren Rabb, (?)Kennard, Howard McBride (my step-dad) and the last one I cant remember...I will ask my step-dad again. He said he thought the photo was dated 1965 or 1967 at the un-veiling of the mural.

Let me be clear these are photos that my step-dad had that I copied and gave to Olegreg. So he does NOT have the originals...my step-dad does, and I don't want any misrepresentation that Olegreg has possession of them, he merely posted copies of what I sent him. My step-dad was the general manager of the Bellemont for 20 years

Great pics and stories of the old Belmont.

I think if you look real close in the mural you can see piss ballons being thrown from the upper south endzone on visiting Ole Miss fans.
