I thought about the mural a couple of weeks ago when I heard they were tearing the Belmont down . My uncle ran the place for A. C . Lewis for years and I spent many days in that place back in the 70's . I can't believe no one saved that painting prior to the roof caving . Some one could have moved it to the Campus or something . I hope you can get it restored without it costing a fortune .

Damn that's awesome. Too bad you couldn't get it earlier.

That is awesome. Congratulations. I hope you preserve it and allow others to enjoy it for many years to come.

My thoughts exactly. At least I got to it in time or it would have been lost forever.

How big is the painting?
The dimensions are somewhere around 7-10 ft high by 12-15 ft wide.
This is the newest, and now largest piece, in my collection

Nice grab!!! I went after it last year, even called the owner of the property, but the tight arse wouldn't even take $50 for it. The manager of the property took me in to see it but couldn't give me permission to take it.

I called Jack Jaubert on my way home and spoke to him about what is the best thing to do with it; that being to restore it if possible, preserve it if unable to restore, and find out who painted it
There was the artist's name at the bottom right last year, Anne something (I believe)

Greg you mentioned in the thread showing your collection that the '96 CWS commemorative ticket distribution was scraped. I don't remember which cws it was, but they gave out a gold plated looking commemorative ticket during entry to rosenblatt. Was that the same year?

This might be the greatest post ever. Glad you remembered this.

I remember going to the Belmont for state math conventions in high school. I loved that mural. I simply cannot fathom that the owners did not preserve it when they decided to shut down the hotel. I blame Billy for being a thug.
