maybe you need to check the title again, it's most overrated Louisiana foods. I like sandwiches and I like poboys, I just think they are overrated mainly because it's a sandwich.

eta: I just ate a poboy for lunch

For me, it's pralines. Can't stand 'em.

And whoever said raw oysters, obviously never had a good one. An ice cold, salty Gulf oyster is as close to a perfect food as you can get.

doesnt like 70% of the nations oysters come from the gulf?

Thats correct. Before the spill it was estimated that 60-70 % of the oysters that are eaten in the nation come from the gulf.

and half of that is produced in Louisiana.

No, actually, I don't. Just seems a little bizarre to mention a food being overrated due to its name.

I think muffalettas are overrated, but not because it's got the physical characteristics of a sandwich.

This pisses me off I HATE Red beans and rice. I have had no less than 20 people tell me this exact line. I gave them a shot and it still sucked. I finally gave up on it

So this thread is making me think that every food Louisiana is known for is overrated.

Hmm. Heresey I know, but I do not like Gulf oysters (they taste "warm" to me). Nice kumomoto oysters or oysters from Prince Edward Island are are very good, however. They have very delicate flavors.

Alligator anything. Shrimp creole sucks azz. Fried seafood platters are better in theory than in execution.

I'm from Gonzales, and have cooked in every Jambalaya festival the last 15 years and the only time I even taste it is during the festival.
