This whole business of him walking around on campus in his socks "to make a statement" is what gets me.
If he's doing this crap, he'd better know 100% for certain that he didn't do anything, because acting like an immature knucklehead isn't exactly the best way to score leniency points with the DA.
Holy frick...another rumor about this guy? Please tell me you know this is true...and are not simply stooping to repeating rumors which have no value other than to hurt Jefferson.

Bringing him back would be a distraction. I just don't think Les does that. It would divide the locker room IMO.
I just couldn't see him cheering lee on from the bench. I think he'd be pissed that he wasn't playing.
Don't believe me? Look at what he's trying to do right now. Trying to be reinstated to the team without charges being cleared or taken to a grand jury first.
JJ returning wouldn't be a distraction to the team......only to the "fans" who don't want him back for whatever reason.........LSU's "fans" are the only fan base that doesn't want their starting QB back. How retarded is that?
Gotta question though.....if he comes back and LM places him as the starter, will all the folks screaming for everybody to get behind Lee as QB say the same thing about JJ?

Even if he's innocent?
Yes - He's putting himself above the team. Furthermore, he isn't 100% innocent regardless. He was out past curfew adn involved in an altercation at the very least.
Closure was brought to the "who's going to be our QB" distraction by suspending JJ. Once again, indefinitely was pending the trial, which we know won't happen before this season is over -- so yes -- there is closure as far as this season is concerned.

That's why I said "IF he's doing this crap".

Okay, so I know what you think should happen, but what do you think will happen, if he is no longer charged with a felony in 3-5 weeks. I don't see Les telling him he can't come back, do you?

You do realize, of course that in 3-5 weeks, we'll be 6-8 weeks into the season, right?
If we're undefeated, or even have 1 loss (either of which is quite likely), there's no way he regains the starting QB spot. In fact, he'd very likely be relegated to mop-up duty if he takes any snaps at all.
Do you think HE wants that?

First I seriously doubt if LSU is the only fanbase with less than 100% unbridled affection for its starting QB. That consideration aside, why would a percentage of the fanbase being unsatisfied with a QB who threw just four TD passes during the regular season in 2010 be retarded?

I've read tons of your posts...you're WAY better than this!
Why limit yourself to just the socks thing so long as we're going to rant about what he MAY do. shite...there's got to be a TON of fricking horrible things the guy COULD do that would get us all upset, isn't there? Why don't we just start a thread where we can all talk about how upset we'd be if he did this or that, regardless of whether or not he's done it.

well TheDoc said he was doing a socks protest, so it's gotta be true.

I dunno........ maybe because this was supposed to be our year to make a run for the "ship" and the caoching staff deemed JJ worthy of leading the team on that journey........Doesn't matter what we think, he was the chosen starter so it's obvious the coaches thought he was the best choice to lead us. I want the coaches best choice, not the fan's........regardless I will cheer for whoever is out there but I can't honestly say that everyone is like that.

I love all these people willing to sell a young man down the river to satisfy their own selfish wants. The kid's future means more than your PERCEPTION of team impact as well as game success.
Based upon that logic, regardless of whether or not he is innocent or was limitedly involved you still want him to GFTO.......nice. Hope the Real World doesn't treat your kids this way.

Because the socks thing is currently being put out there as something he is doing.
Is it possible somebody's making it up? Sure. But this isn't a court of law, man. It's a message board. Hearsay happens.
Tell me, if it turns out he IS doing this, wouldn't the attitude it took to do it disturb you just a little?

........Doesn't matter what we think
To the degree of who plays and who doesn't you're entirely correct.
I suppose the point I was attempting to make is if JJ had thrown for 4,000 yards and 30 TD's in 2010 and fans were still calling for his benching then retarded may be an appropriate word to use. But with the year he had in 2010 its not all that difficult to understand why some fans may not want to see a repeat in 2011.

and now he has been suspended and not even practicing for several weeks.
IF he ever is even allowed to come back, extremely unlikely LSU admin lets him anywhere near a football field on national tv, he isn't going to start...he isnt going to play.
The sooner you come to accept this reality, the less stupid threads will populate the rant.

No one is selling anyone down the river. I didn't want to see JJ start in 2011 long before the Shady's incident.
He's not very good and his legal problems have not made me any more enamoured with his skills.

Whatever....answer the question trick! If he came back and Les placed him in the starting line-up, would you support him and encourage others to get behind the starting QB?

I made post about this a couple of weeks ago, but it was basically just stating that if JJ were my son, I would not defend him blindly but I would give him the benefit of the doubt until my trust in him was shown to be in error. These kids that we recruit to play for LSU become very important to us all...and some in time become legends that we look back on with cherished memories. why, then, would we as a fan base be so hell bent on tossing one of our own under the bus LONG before we had any reason to do so, and long before we really knew anything?
For those with the slightest bit of intellectual honesty, I'd say that there was a bit of a knee jerk reaction to not appear to be a homer...don;t blindly defend a guy simply because he's ours. I get that...I do. But for most, and this was clear within HOURS of the news breaking here, the reason was simple...Jordan Jefferson had not played up to their expectations and therefore did not entertain them fully enough to warrant them even pretending to hope we wasn't guilty. There reaction was based SOLELY on his ability under center and had he been better you would not have seen the same reaction you did?
Don't believe me? Imagine it had been Glenn Dorsey back in 2007? From all accounts...a good guy, never in trouble, etc...sound familiar? Oh wait...he was an All-American. Anyone really want to raise their hand and suggest they'd have been so quick to turn their back on Dorsey had word come out that he had been involved in something like that without knowing ANY of the facts? anyone want to suggest Dorsey didn't break curfew that same night in his senior year...could he have not just as likely gotten involved in a situation not of his making that went badly?
There have been a handful of posters here that have completely shown their asses during this little deal...
