I have eaten several entrees on the menu, and I must say that they have some delicious arse food.
This thread is a shoutout for those who havent eaten there. I recommend you give it a try

Know the family that runs it. Great people.
Small inside though. I wouldn't take a big group of people there without calling in advance.
Rocket shrimp are the tits. But too rich for me to eat on an entire po-boy. Great as an app though.

Very good, can they make the leap to a bigger place? I have seen a lot of excellent small places die when they step up. I have no problem if they stay where they are, but clearly popularity breeds ambition, it should.
Yes, the rocket shrimp are powerful incentive to try them.

1/2 rocket shrimp po-boy and cup of crab and corn bisque is an addiction for me.
But not everything there is great IMO.
But has not stopped me from eating there almost weekly.

Has anyone tried the bayou bash pasta(name may be
incorrect) or any of the pasta dishes; also, any
feedback on the blackened catfish or chicken salad? TIA

they do some catering too
i eat there about once a week or so
i've had a good bit of the menu, and its all good
spaghetti, chicken jasmine, rocket shrimp are personal favorites
i've had the hamburger steak twice and they seem to overchar it a bit...that would be my only complaint to date
its a small place, let it not get too popular
i dont want to have to wait for my lunch

this place is awesome. Crawfish beignets are excellent, along with the rocket shrimp. I must also throw into the mix that you have to try the hamburger. My little one loves their spaghetti too. Good call to the OP.

yeah i went and got the stuffed mushrooms and wasn't at all impressed.
The rocket shrimp remind me of the bang bang shrimp at bonefish.

I heard they don't serve alcohol. Do you normally just drag a cooler in or what?

I doubt seriously that they take reservations.

Not enough square footage in the dining room. It's only a few square feet that they are lacking (maybe 100--which is 10'X10', so not that big of an area).
That's what I heard, anyway.

Ok I'm going to say they have the best crab cakes in BR. Presenation may be lacking but there is actual lump crab in the cake with awesome remoulade. I get Togo from there all the time and it is awesome. Rocket oyster poboy w/ bacon... You have no idea. Every poboysucks. Only complaint, I've had their seafood platter and the catfish always smells strange. Like imported or somehing, maybe the batter, but overall awesome. I wish they grew and had a bar. I would walk there from my apt twice a week. Chkn n sausage gumbo is solid.

I've yet to try this place because every time I'm in their parking lot, I always end up opting for the beef tongue tacos at el Limon next door.

I'm never been a big fan JOTB, but after reading about the crab cakes I think I'll give them another try.. After all, it has been well over a year since I've been there.
I like good crab cakes, not those shitty tasting ones that Dempsey's sells...Dempsey's taste more like a canned salmon patty than it does a crab cake.
