I'm sure many of you have seen bald eagles while hunting/fishing in Louisiana, but I never have - until yesterday afternoon. I was in my box stand around 4:30 and I watched one fly in lazy circles for about 10 minutes and then fly off. Majestic looking bird! How common are they in Louisiana?

I've never killed a Bald Eagle. Wonder if they're as fun as dogs to shoot

I see one around the house from time to time. I watched one grab a fish from the water a couple of years ago. He was 3 houses down and I got a great view. He flew to a tree on the other aide of the river and ate the fish in a tree for about 30 minutes.

ive seen about seven or eight in my entire life. they truly are beautiful.

while canoeing in Canada, I witnessed one land on a rock about 30 feet from me and eat a fish out of the lakes.

on opening weekend of duck season i saw three of them circling about 1000 yards away from me. i know once they find a mate they mate for life so my only guess is they were teaching one of their young to hunt.

truly majestic

We have a few here in Terrebonne and I have seen them fishing in the intracoastal several times.

Not sure about Louisiana, but I've seen several in Bama and those things are simply amazing and freaking massive.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that Louisiana has the 2nd highest eagle population next to
Alaska

I know Lafourche/Terrebonne have hundredes

I've seen quite a few in the last few years. Fishing Belle River, Verrett, the Spillway, and Gibson.

I also see the one at the 310 - I 10 interchange sometimes.

They are badass creatures.

I hunt below Terrebonne parish and go down the Atchafalaya to get to my lease. During duck season, I see them almost every trip down the river. It is very common to see them down along the coast. Occasionally I have seen them perched on the channel markers in the river. Awesome sight.

Last time i was hunting in bayou black (gibson area) we saw at least 5 or 6.

Saw an immature one in lake bouef last saturday.

They are ducks and coots arch nemesis. Ducks are petrified of eagles

One landed in our neighbor's tree just off of the LSU lakes something like 15 years ago. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped when I saw it. Fortunately they are increasingly common in the lower 48 and I see several a year here in Georgia; especially on the coast. Watching 2 bald eagles tag team an osprey with a fish is a lot of fun.

Two of them live behind my house, on the edge of a really big lake. They are beautiful. Evey four years or so, they hatch a baby. They spend two full years raising it and then it goes off on it's own.

This is in central Florida by the way.
