I would book a trip toward the end of October. The really big yellowfin follow the shrimp boats. It's really exhilarating seeing huge 150+lb yellowfin eating the chum right on side the boat. You usually dont have to run as far in the fall as you would in the summer to catch em....
Friday: Thunderstorms were abundant. Fished in the rain till 130 and packed it in. 30 mangroves 12 red snapper Saturday: 2 Yellowfin 2 blackfin 16 red snapper Sunday: 1 Yellowfin 2 Blackfin 1 Almaco 12 red snapper one was about twenty pounds All in South Timbalier and Green Canyon...

Fished the shallow South Tim rigs Saturday for a few hours, and the current was ripping. The wind picked up, and i had my grandpa in the boat so we called it a day. Ended up with 12 mangroves. Caught 15 nice specks sunday afternoon on live shrimp under a cork in barataria bay....
Chum and use live croaker with yo zuri 50lb leader tied directly to the main line (no swivel) using a big spinning reel. i prefer sardines rather than pogies...

Anyone use these spinning reels with the "live liner" or the "bait feeder" application that allows you to let the line free spool without flipping the bail? What do you think? ive missed many fish flpping the bail when a fish is dumping line, it seems like this app could work really well....

Last time i was hunting in bayou black (gibson area) we saw at least 5 or 6. Saw an immature one in lake bouef last saturday. They are ducks and coots arch nemesis. Ducks are petrified of eagles...

All the time. Especially when your sitting in the deer stand/duck blind freezing. i get to thinking about fishing in the summer time when its warm loading up on specks or catching snapper. i think fishing is more fun than hunting though. just my opinion....

a few buddies of mine limited most of the hunts out there the first split. you and your buddy shouldnt have a problem getting your limit....
did you see any ducks? im thinking about making a hunt out there saturday morning...
i think its a buck because of the big block head he has. i find that does usually dont have big heads like the bucks....

Going hunting in Welsh, and i was told there were a lot of geese not so much ducks. A bunch of my friends are going to Wax lake. Heard some pretty good reports from there. i think itll just be nice to be in the blind for the first time this year....
