re: Miles's comments regarding 3rd and 8 are disturbing

That's either a lie or plain stupidity. NO, the majority of our third downs were because we weren't very good on first and second... FOR FOUR STRAIGHT GAMES now.
Again. You are intentionally taking his comments out of context.
Those comments above came in his opening statement after the WV game. He is clearly talking specifically about the WV game and the issues we had.
Are you that pathetic that you can't make a point without twisting Miles' words?

He blames penalties, of course, for constantly being in long yardage situations instead of understanding that QB ineptitude on first and second is more often the reason and that we shouldn't be having so many third downs, period, of ANY length.
I don't think the QB is holding or starting "falsely". Now, if there's evidence JJ's fudging up the snap count, that's one thing, but, then wouldn't everybody be doing it including the center?

I'm thinking it explains all those passes short of the first down marker: Les has already conceded that he's not going to make it.
I'm not defending the anemic offensive production, the lackluster (generous description at best), but the play called is often a longer pass and the defense forces the QB to take the dump off. Sometimes the receiver makes a play and still gets the first. A play is not necessarily a good (or bad) play, based soley on success or failure to achieve a first down. The QB is not wrong to make the dump off, solely because it fails to get the first down. Progressions are progressions.

He should get several games to get timing with his WRs and get a feel for his blocking.

The point should be that during his cameos he didnt do anything to hurt the offense like he did back in 2008.

It would be unfair to judge Lee on such a small body of work.
I agree. Just don't tell me that his passes have been magical this year. He's throw a one read route, a screen pass, and a slant. He's thrown two accurate and one horrible inaccurate pass so far.

He looked awful in 2009. And, again, he was a great catch away from an interception last Saturday.
I'm not saying he has or hasn't improved. I'm just saying that I'm not expecting miracles.

We might lead the nation in 3rd down completions that ended drives.
It's not necessarily a QB problem as much as it is a coordination problem.
We have actually had plays designed with 4 WR's on 3rd and 9, where 3 of the 4 receivers ran routes short of the first down marker.
We continuously throw to the hash mark short of the first down marker in clock management situations, when attempting to score before a half.
Not some of the time, ALL the time.

How can we trust Miles that Lee is just as bad or worse if he cant speak the truth the rest of the time?
We don't have to take Miles word for it. Where the hell were you in 2008? Where the hell were you during the Tech game last year? Where the hell were you during the Bama game last year? Give me a break. Take the Bama game: do you honestly believe that we were better off with Lee in the game after Jefferson went down? Were we somehow not playing that well when he was in the game? Again, no one is saying Jefferson is perfect; but the idea that somehow going back to Lee is the simple fix is irrational to me.

So we don't count Jefferson's Vandy game?
how many consecutive starts has JJ had vs Lee? JJ should be much better by now. If Lee can come in with a fraction of the experience of JJ and perform at the same level as JJ, thats an improvement because he should be better by the time he gets to 18 starts.

Does anybody remember the Nick Saban show at Superior Grill?
So what? I'm sure after his loss to UAB the place was real packed with adoring fans, huh? And if you want those days, you're free to move to Tuscaloosa and be first in line at whatever hell hole he hosts it in there.

Jefferson has had three horrific performances in a row after an opening bad one. Why is it that Jefferson can be expected to improve but not Lee?
Because Lee holds the record (I think nationally) for pick 6s thrown in a season, had a start & a big role in 2 games last year and choked and because Jefferson gives us a better shot at winning, period. Some of you have used the "job" analogy to the effect that you should fire a person not doing their job. Great. But now you want to re-hire an employee whom you previously FIRED for not just doing a bad job, but an absolutely abysmal job!
Lets assume that Lee plays exactly how he played his freshman year. That is still better than JJ is playing now! Ummm to expect that Lee would throw as many pick sixes is stupid.

get out of here with that 2008 shite... they were both freshmen... and even to an extent last year. No on eexpected them to come out on fire.
But by the time these guys are juniors and are in the 3rd year of their program, we should start to see things click.

I'm sure that's what you were saying in 2008, right?
So take last year. BReak that down for me. Tech game specifically. Then go on to the Bama game where he had a beautiful opportunity (WITH a lead if I'm not mistaken). Enlighten me how much Jarret Lee has improved.

So far things are clicking just fine for JL. He has thrown 3 passes and all have been completed. All the limited evidence shows that Lee is clicking and the exhaustive evidence show that JJ is the worst qb in the entire country. That is what the IMPERICAL evidence show.
(on one of those three there was a penalty so it doesn't show up in the stats)

Miles's comments regarding 3rd and 8 are disturbing

Lee only has two official passes on the season. On one of them, he threw well short of the first down markers.
And it was a terribly inaccurate pass
And it would have been an interception if Toliver doesn't make a great catch.
No passes could be more inaccurate than those thrown by Jefferson in the last series of the first half and the first series of the second half. They were inexcusable. Following Brooks promising kick return, Jefferson had every opportunity to seize momentum from WVU and put additional points on the board before half. Instead, he threw the ball into the ground like a cricket hurler. Then, to start the second half, he threw a horrendous interception on a terrible read. That INT led directly to a WVU TD. The point is this: no QB could possibly play worse than Jefferson on Saturday. Hence, Lee at least deserves an opportunity.

REALLY?!?! So on YOUR assumption, you'd rather play a QB who threw 16 (SIXTEEN) interceptions that were returned for TOUCHDOWNS over someone who, by all measures, has only failed in that he hasn't passed for over a 100 yards in a game and has lead the team to a 4-0 record (I know, I know, those don't count as wins) with NO interceptions returned for touchdowns? If you believe that you are dumber than a stack of bricks.

Anyone have any extra "FRAGILE - HANDLE WITH CARE" stickers lying around.
So, why are we facing so many 3rd and longs? We haven't had penalties on every damn series this year. Run, run/short pass, forced to pass (qb runs around like chicken with head cut off), punt is not a game plan.
