It's a funny thing... Lee picked up two first downs on his first two throws of the season... both timed and thrown beautifully.
Jefferson has had three horrific performances in a row after an opening bad one. Why is it that Jefferson can be expected to improve but not Lee?

Miles is only point, which I think is a pretty good one, is that you have to fix some other things as well that will improve the QB play. But because he's not overreacting like some of you he's just stubborn and apparently doesn't want to win. The fact is neither QB is very good & he appears to be trying to work around that problem.
I wade through the shite around here with the hope that I will be reminded that there are still LSU fans who think rationally and have the ability to get it. Thank you.

That's either a lie or plain stupidity. NO, the majority of our third downs were because we weren't very good on first and second... FOR FOUR STRAIGHT GAMES now.

Here is the problem in a nut shell.
Mile quote:
This is perfectly accurate. 3rd and long we were constantly faced with is hard to convert, true! And that is the problem. It is hard and Les Miles is giving JJ the right to throw inaccurate passes in this situation and the situation will ALWAYS get the blame and its as if the inaccurate pass or the sack or the scramble when receivers are open never happened... not JJ's fault.

I can tell you that anytime you are in a game where you are penalized as often as we were, that quarterback has a very difficult situation. Instead of going back there second and two, he is going back there at third and 12. A good majority of our third down conversions had to do with what was the penalty and the situation in front of him rather than the quarterback play. I can tell you when you are third and long and you rush three and drop all the underneath coverage to take away those routes, it is not the ideal time to throw a football. I would say any quarterback in that position minus Brett Favre might have a real issue.

And the very thought of coddling a football player =
exactly, so tired of hearing this shite. the dude is a SEC qb if he's too big of pussy to handle some criticism or being benched then he shouldn't be in this position to begin with.
I hate to say it but just look at the way Saban coaches and gets on players, you don't see them imploding from within when he gets on their asses

because this goofballishness is not coaching.
What "goofballishness" exactly? The 4-0 record? The TOP defense in the SEC? (Funny he gets no credit for that.) One of the top 10 special teams in the country? (Funny, he gets no props for that, either.) The second best rusher in the SEC? A top 5 recruiting class nearly every year he's been here? One national championship? Or the fact that we haven't had 30 thugs arrested on the team and nearly 0 NCAA infrations? So tell me, exactly, what "goofballishness" you're referring to?

Because Lee holds the record (I think nationally) for pick 6s thrown in a season, had a start & a big role in 2 games last year and choked and because Jefferson gives us a better shot at winning, period. Some of you have used the "job" analogy to the effect that you should fire a person not doing their job. Great. But now you want to re-hire an employee whom you previously FIRED for not just doing a bad job, but an absolutely abysmal job!

The 4-0 record?
this won't stand...unless we dramatically improve on offense (and nothing makes me believe we will), this run of teams we are about to face, minus mcneese, will wear down our defense...that simple

If we can't move the ball against these stronger teams, Fla., Bama, Auburn, Ark., we will lose
But we CAN move the ball on those teams. And we HAVE moved the ball on those teams in the past with JJ at the helm. Play selection, and execution are the major factors contributing to our short-comings so far this season.
Dude, we had 110 yards in excess penalties against WVU alone. That shite will directly affect your ability to move the ball.

Have you read the Wall Street Journal lately? Have you not heard about players yelling back at him at the Capital One bowl in 2003? Have you not read what some Dolphins said about him?
He's G-O-N-E; get over it.

Miles's comments regarding 3rd and 8 are disturbing
He's protecting his players. What do you want him to say. "Our QBs really suck. I mean they suck hard. I've never seen QBs that suck as bad as ours. They don't run the option well, they don't throw the ball well, I don't even like the way they hand the ball off. We're going to have to run to have any kind of success on offense."

I have a problem with this. I have a hard time believing that we struck on twice on two fairly highly recruited QBs. We are basically taking Miles' word for it that Lee isnt starting because he isnt that good. Accounts from spring practices disupute that.
So lets look at Miles credibility.
"We are doing some really good things in the passing game" he says last night.
Really? Does anyone else agree?
"Lee deserves a chance to compete".
Really? then why isnt he given one?
I could go on with numerous examples, but I think you all see where im going here.
At this point, im beginning to question Miles honesty and credibility which leads me back to my original point: How can we trust Miles that Lee is just as bad or worse if he cant speak the truth the rest of the time?
I think Miles has gotten to caught up in defending himself and JJ that hes no longer impartial.

And it was a terribly inaccurate pass
And it would have been an interception if Toliver doesn't make a great catch.

I would rather run 10+ yard routes with 1 checkdown option on 3rd and 8 and have an incomplete pass trying to throw 10 yards down the field or ball thrown away out of bounds then pick up 4 yards on 3rd and 8 and gain that almighty 4 extra yards of field position for a defense that can carry us regardless

It would be unfair to judge Lee on such a small body of work. He needs at least a full half to shake off jitters and get a feel for the speed of the game.
He should get several games to get timing with his WRs and get a feel for his blocking.
The point should be that during his cameos he didnt do anything to hurt the offense like he did back in 2008.

- And cutting down on dropped balls (RUSSELL SHEPARD & TOLIVER) and penalties (TOLIVER, HBEBERT, BARKSDALE) will do this without turning it over to someone mid-season who has repeatedly turned the ball over to the other team. No one is saying Jefferson is God or doesn't need to improve, but your expectation is unrealistic if you expect us to put up Mallet or Brees-like numbers with or without Jarrett Lee. I think Miles understands what he has in front of him and has chosen to say I'll play the stronger of my weaker QBs who DOESN'T turn the ball over & is capable of managing the offense.

Do people still show up for the Les Miles show?
Does anybody remember the Nick Saban show at Superior Grill? Place would be PACKED and the fans would all be hollering and cheering loud, chanting LSU LSU LSU. You hear it now and it's so dead in TJ Ribs you can hear forks hitting plates.
