That's the real "secret" to a successful club!

That's what I thought I was getting into when I agreed to join. Staying the weekend at the camp, having a good time and being able to hunt without the headaches of Texas hunts.

A couple of years ago I shot a decent 8. My cousin and her husband were bitching because their son had it on camera and it was "his buck".

Every day I see new evidence that people aren’t very smart in general. Now I’m not saying people are bad, just not very smart.

lmao same. its all just lawyers, doctors, and wealthy business owners from BR and NOLA. honestly takes the fun out of hunting when you're running it like a boot camp. i get management of the deer and all completely but i just wish that those types of people would take a chill pill. makes the younger generation be like "screw this" and do something else

I feel like people that get into these type of clubs didn't grow up hunting with family. Some people get obsessed with status with any number of items. We all like to kill a big deer but I have more fun with my son if he killed a 6 point in a stand his grandfather built than I would killing a huge deer myself.

To each his own though. We all have different ideas of fun. If it's not fun and not work, then why do it?

that is so true. i killed an 8 point with my grandfather last weekend of january and that was better than hunting in north TX where trophies were everywhere.

The experience and feeling is just so much better! One of my best friends and members killed the biggest deer we have had on camera the last three years....I was so happy for him. Lifetime buck and he's been hunting hard for 7 years with me. He's turned into a good hunter too!

Actually, if you have joined a hunting club, you have joined an HOA. Every one I have ever joined devolved into lunacy, jealousy and general pettiness. Members either hunt too much or not enough. The deer they shoot are too big or too little. It just goes on and on.

Cameras create animosity by setting claim to an animal that they honestly have all equal rights to hunt. It’s BS.

We have seen the exact opposite. We have 17 cameras all on a shared account. Prior to that folks would pass around pictures but couldn’t gauge just how large of an area the average buck is covering. It was easier to assume you had a buck cornered when you couldn’t see he was popping out in daylight a half mile away that same day. Guys now understand it’s about being in his home range at the right time, not being in this particular tree and mad cause bubba beat them to it that day.

“He hunted my stand?

Did you buy or build it?

No, I just hunt it a lot so it’s mine by association. It’s mine, not his!!!! Roaaaaarrrrrrrr!!! “

Some of these mother frickers didn’t get enough hugs as kids and it shows…

Be glad you killed the biggest deer on the place and go find a better bunch of people.

This. You just won the biggest prize and it sounds like a bunch of ornery a-holes. This is like leaving the casino after winning a lot. DOn't keep gambling. Find a new table.

This 100% for us as well, we have also documented with unique features certain bucks which has shown members and neighbors the growth potential our area has if they can get the age. And pics of certain bucks that are being let walk encourages everyone to let the small bucks walk and shoot a doe or a pig for meat.

Have you considered that your neighbors might have different ideas of why they hunt? Not everyone is a trophy hunter. Some like the meat, some like being out observing God's creation. Some value time with family and friends. As long as neighbours are legal and ethical, what they do is their business. At the end of the day, it is just a deer.

My club is all about kids enjoying hunting. I was talking about clubs with page after page of rules which we don’t have

Absolutely. I got a lot of heat for saying we weren’t killing enough does, some would suggest it’s the same group of does making the rounds, etc. Now you can watch in real time that does are at multiple feeders at the same time. This was also the first year we didn’t have multiple above average 2.5s hit the skinning shed, everyone knew what they looked like and where they frequented, such that they didn’t just see horns when he walked out. We’ll never go back.

I can certainly see the value in this angle. I just like not knowing sometimes I guess.

Seems like the good old days
