Purgatory is based partially on a book of the OT that was in the Bible for Fifteen Centuries before Martin Luther decided to remove it and six other OT Holy Books.

The book is 2 Maccabees and here's an explanation of the relevant passage.

Sex addicted priests and continued sex/priest issues running rampant through the Catholic church. Ugh, nope!

public schools too

But a KJV has a few books missing to make it a Catholic Bible - so what’s your point?

What’s unfortunate is that many cradle Catholics have little to no regard for their faith.

I do not say this to be mean spirited, but as a convert to Catholicism, the worst person to ask questions regarding Catholic teaching is a cradle Catholic.

quote:

By extension, most churches and denominations do an exceptionally terrible job with training their youth in the way of faith, and I think Catholics take the cake.

I won't disagree with this, though I do think it's gotten much better with the modern Catholic apologists and all of the literature and YouTube content out there.

Those who want to learn and take their faith serious will, and those who don't won't.

Not sure but I'm constantly amazed how many support this organization that for a really long time has been a rapists transfer portal. Protecting rapists, moving them to other areas to rape again.

It's sad.

They defend it too. Until it happens to them I guess.

Isn't it much older than the Protestant Bible?

Shouldn't that be the Protestants removed several books that the Catholics included? And the Catholics did their own culling writing their Bible?

This is true. The way one views faith at 35 is much different than at 15 or 20.
But it is nice to have a foundation of knowledge from a young age to build upon once a person decides to take faith seriously.

cute seeing Catholics acting like their canon is anything besides population control and grifting peasants for indulgences

Not even the Prots believe that because it is completely and factually and historically wrong.

You probably think that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Mass is said everyday. At every weekday Mass there are TWO Bible readings that are read to the congregation. The Priest then discusses the Bible lessons to the congregation.

Every Sunday, THREE Bible passages are read and explained to the congregation.

WOW!! 2-3 Bible verses are read! And with very little explanation to go with this. Step into a non-denominational church some time and see what a real sermon is like. I was raised catholic and have been to many different churches and in my humble opinion catholicism is very weak in teaching what the Bible actually says. If you want to learn repetitive prayers then stick with the catholic church, but if you really want to walk with God go where you're fed spiritual truth.

When we pray to Mary and the Saints, we are asking them for intercession - we are asking them to ask God for us. We do not believe the saints can do what we ask.

quote:

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

1 Timothy 2:5

Pretty crystal clear who we are to pray to, and through. No ambiguity found.

When we ask other believers to pray for us on our behalf, they are alive, not dead, and STILL they pray through Jesus (our priest) not anyone else. .

quote:

The assumption is interpreted from revelation, the immaculate conception is something we know from an apparition and the fulfillment of different passages from the prophets

I’m going to require some scriptures for that reach.

quote:

Priests do not absolve sins - only Jesus does.

And yet, once he hears your confessions, he prescribes prayers to absolve you of those sins, ie, 3 hair Mary’s and 2 our father’s. Your own penance, as if Christ’s death and resurrection were not quite enough to do it, it requires you to do something as well. That is not scriptural.

quote:

Purgatory is in the Bible Matthew 12:32

That is speaking of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, not purgatory.

quote:

Praying for the dead to leave purgatory, and with alms no less.
lol, ok Martin Luther

I guess if you have the bank roll, you’re good, but if not, then good luck huh?

quote:

Mary being childless after Christ and Joseph never fathering children
there’s no proof in the Bible for or against this - ‘brothers’ can be translated as cousins as well - since the people all lived under one roof

And yet, the RCC says Mary never had any other children, because of course, that would bring into question her new role as a deity the RCC has pronounced her as holding.

quote:

this is in the Bible - google

When the veil was rent and the Holy of Holies available to all through Christ, there is no more need for a priest to enter it on our behalf, and so, ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE, Christ alone is our priest. We enter that presence of God through Christ, our priest.

quote:

my man, this is the biggest thing - transubstantiation- God performs miracles all the time - why can’t bread and wine be turned into the body and blood? Read John’s Gospel.

I know full well how big of a thing it is for a Catholic, but it simply is not written that when we take communion that it literally becomes the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said that whenever you do this, do it in remembrance of me. It’s symbolic. It’s not literally eating the body and drinking the blood of our savior, or else it certainly would not taste exactly like bread and wine (grape juice) and BTW. You don’t even drink wine (grape juice) anymore, so you’re missing half of the communion.

quote:

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

1 Corinthians 11:26

It is a testimony, not an act of crucifying Jesus Christ over and over again.

we can, it’s never been said that you only have to pray to saints.

I guess my question is why would you even consider praying to anyone but God? The saints are dead, so why would you pray to a dead person?

They don't have a good answer for praying to dead "saints" other than they think they have more pull to get your prayers heard by God. If you just take this at face value you can see why this is just plain wrong. Most children can even see this clearly.
